FANTASTIC NEWS TO REPORT!!!

We have been monitoring the eagles closely all day and it looks like they may be incubating now!!!! Liberty was hunkered way down in the nest from 11:00 am to 3:20pm. Spirit came in and they did a SWITCH!!!

Kit is down there right now monitoring them & Spirit is down low in the nest and Liberty flew to Christmas Tree and then took off from there!

I'm really happy about the news! Also, never so happy to be wrong about the river flow. Shasta has kept more than 100,000 acre-feet above flood storage level instead of releasing it quickly. Glad the river is down for the sake of the eagles, and hopefully for the cam too. If not, it is definitely a blessing to have the eagles in public view again!

I wanted to get the turbulent details into the nest history chart while they were still fresh. Was it certain that the egg shell fragments at the golf course nest were laid in 2017? I didn't think it was certain because I never read that anyone saw the eagles incubating at the golf course nest. Anyway, I documented it as an uncertain/unknown. About that and other issues (particularly in the newest Notes 11 and 12), please let me know if additions, changes or deletions to the information are needed.

We couldn't be happier that our Redding Eagles are finally incubating!!!! We had hoped this might happen, but as time went by we wondered if it might be too late this season? But, these guys never cease to amaze us!
