I think my favorite is the middle one in the "coming in for a landing" series in Whittier - though I also like the nest (nests are hard to see!) - and the one on the iceberg - and....

We do have eagles in Maine - but you definitely don't see them everywhere you look!

Among the best photos of bald eagles I've seen. The second one, showing an adult stalking across a mud flat, has comedic elements, thought I doubt the eagle intended to be a comedian.

I do sort of wonder if "Coal Face and Mom" (5 or 6 down) is "Dad and Young Bride" - but the photographer most likely saw more interaction between them.

Air Show Eagles, 8-14-10. The Abbotsford Air Show is held every August. We crossed the border on 8-13-10 for the first day of the show. We viewed some of the show on 8-14-10 from the Washington State side of the border near Sumas, Wash. Look closely and you may see what I believe is an eagle or perhaps some other bird of prey. In the first photo, look for the eagle at top left as an F4U Corsair and an Avro Lancaster bomber fly by. In second photo, look for an eagle to the right of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Lummi Island, Washington, 9-4-10. These two eagles are spotted almost daily on the south end of the island, which is near Bellingham, Wash. In fact, these are the only eagles I have seen in the area in the past two weeks. This is the time of year when the eagles head north for the salmon runs. These two may be sticking around since there is a salmon fish farm a couple of miles away. Click to enlarge.
