I heard a landing!
A softer -more controlled landing of an adult - and on wood - not the nest!! Grin
Needless to say - no visual! Grin

Maybe very distant calls--too far away to know for sure

2:58 pm
Are those the voices of Fledgefesters? and a car motor running?

Fledgefesters hammering?

I hear them too Birdsie. In fact it sounds an awful lot like David's voice.

The vehicle sounds like a big rig of some sort. Puzzled Too early to have a crane there so maybe Epicure is doing some ground work Don't Know

wave Hi jkr--
Oh good--I'm not imagining things! Whistling What good ears you have

Wonder what they're doing?

What was that! Sounded like something broke! Oh My

Sounds like they are digging, and then something came loose??

ETA--wonder if we could have done a Skype live feed from them? (I'm not sure how to do it, though or if it is even possible Embarrassed )

Now that I think about it I wonder if Epicure is doing their haying ?
At the old nest tree we used to watch them out in the field this time of year.
Hopefully a few of the FledgeFesters will have an update for us later.

Wow, you guys have been busy on here todayLeft thumb up

I haven't been home long and haven't uploaded any pics yet. It was raining when I left home and rained halfway to Pat Bay. Last time Vicki from Cayman Islands was here and I took her out to the nest it was raining, windy and cold, and I was hoping we weren't in for another one of those days. Thankfully, the clouds disappeared and the sun was shining when we finished lunch.

A few of the Fledgefest attendees were already at the nest site when Vicki and I arrived. David, Karen and Harry usually have a walk about the nest property before Fledgefest starts as there is a working business on the property and not accessible to the public. The folks from Germany were in attendance but unfortunately they did not join us for lunch at the church hall.

Solo was perched at the side of a small tree near the nest tree when we arrived. Pa was perched in the south perch tree and Ma was perched in one of the beach trees (we could see her way off in the distance). Both Ma and Pa were flying back and forth from their perch trees to the beach trees and the south field tree. Solo flew from the tree she was perched in, around a few trees and landed in another small tree on the other side of the nest tree. A few of us walked up the road to get a better view of Solo but couldn't find her.

Lunch was great and Mel from Texas gave us all a quiz to keep us busy. David talked a lot about the cam situation and outlined some of the issues he is dealing with regarding various cams which need to be replaced or removed, and briefly discussed fund raising efforts.

It was a great day and so nice to see so many of the people again from previous FledgefestsNodding

Thank YouA big thank you to Terry for all she did to make the day a success and a bigThank You to Sharon(gemini) for making the name tags. Also thanks to David and Karen for all they have done to make it possible for us to enjoy so many hours of happy eagle watchingThank You

The nest tree is very close to the Epicure warehouse and the employees park right beside the warehouse. I believe most of them finish work at 4 pm so most likely you would hear them talking and car motors running. You wouldn't hear the Fledgefest attendees talking at the south fence where we gather. In fact, you probably wouldn't hear me shouting from the road adjacent to the nestRoll eyes

Thanks to John (eagledude) for taking care of the grass againLeft thumb up The municipality has been doing some surveying in the grassy area at the south fence where we gather and that is why there was pink tape in various spots.

I'll be back later with some pics.
