One last note from the CRC concerning little "Jordan" / Lil' E ---

Carolina Raptor Center

JORDAN LAKE EAGLE FOLKS: Thank you so much for the outpouring of support and compassion that you have shown over the last eight days. We have certainly experienced similar interest in our eaglets born at Carolina Raptor Center, but have never had such a response from the watchers of a wild bird before. Eagles are such a compelling and charismatic species that it truly is an privilege for us at Carolina Raptor Center to be able to treat, rehabilitate, display and train them so that they can be returned back into the wild or educate the public about the importance of birds to our ecosystem. We are honored to have participated in trying to save this bird.

Regards,
The Staff and Volunteers of Carolina Raptor Center

Summary..June 8, 2014........... this summary is based on Egg # 2 that was laid on Jan..25, 7:07am the other egg was seen broken in the nest on Feb.9

I reviewed all my notes................ It is important to know that Derek and Savannah faithfully incubated their eggs from day one... they devoutly rolled them and on Feb 9 one egg was seen broken in the nest... for days after the expected hatch date they both took turns incubating the egg.

It was on March 17, Day 51 for the egg that we started to see Derek and Savannah letting go .......... meaning they were not incubating the egg on a regular basis...

then on March 19., Day 53 for the egg..we noticed them doing nestorations and taking sticks in the nest and incubating the egg at times........

Derek and Savannah continued to incubate the egg at times but were off the nest more than what they were on it....... On March 28, Day 62 for the egg.. we noticed the eagles covering the egg with grass and leave for a while.......and Finally on April 2, Day 67 for the egg,..Derek and Savannah moved on........the egg was alone in the nest... when i checked in on April 3.........we saw Derek and Savannah but the egg must have been buried... On May 4 ..Day 99 for the egg.. the egg was visible in the nest ......Derek and Savannah seemed happy and content and getting on with their lives..On May 16..... Egg not in sight... and i don't know what happened to it..i was busy on other nests.......

It is now June 8 and all seems fine on this nest........Derek and Savannah look healthy and content....... we are all hoping for a successful 2015 season for them......... Thank you Mia, Judy B, dsguill, Donna , Mary F, Carolyn and all for being here and for your scaps and observations..................hug
