It sure was a hot day in NH. I'll bet the osprey are happy to see the sun go down to help cool the nest off. The outline of the nest this evening is quite interesting. Mom is laying low inside the bowl.

6:55 a.m. Two Osprey on the nest now. The one on the eggs (or chicks, if they have hatched) is not eager to move off them.

Finally, The adult leaves the nest, allowing the other adult to sit a while. I will keep my eye on this nest for chicks today. It is supposed to be another day in the 90*'s with a back-door cold front coming in late day.

WinkMom is very hot sitting on the nest today. The wind is at her back fluffing up her feathers. She has her beak open constantly too.
2:11pm~Alright...now she is standing up. She keeps looking at the eggs beneath her. They are shaded by her body.
At 2:15pm she sat back down.

wave Jude and Ayer's Island Team,

Jude, wish I could stay glued to the cam today but it's just not possible. So glad you are keeping the watch.
Thank You

2:38 pm,
Windblown Mom.

Mom had started to rise from the nest; was hoping to get a good look but she sat back down again.

Must run now; be back when I can....

Thanks for watching mom osprey when you could today Cal. Soon we will see the little wabbly head of a chick rise up from the bowl. That will be cute to see.
Meanwhile I will keep on watching and posting what I see. It takes a while to hatch out of the egg so it could be a bit longer.Grin

Great pics and observations Cal & Jude; thank you! Poor Mom is so hot! It's 93F in the shade today, so I can imagine how hot it must be in the sun for her. I'm surprised that she's not off the eggs once in awhile, since it's so hot.

I checked JudyB's charts on the Osprey info and last year, the eggs hatched on May 29, 31 and June 3. She laid the first egg on the same date as this year too; so, we only have 3 more days until the first chick hatches.Grin
