waveTanner, fabulous photos of the Beacon Hill eaglesLeft thumb up

When I arrived back in Victoria on board the cruise ship ms Oosterdam on Friday May 7th, we pulled into Ogden Point at noon and both the eagles were perched on the light standards. That was a great welcome homeLeft thumb up I took some pics from the top deck of the ship. The 1st pic, taken at 11:45 am, you can see one of the eagles perched on the light standard with the apartment building on Dallas Road in the background. Calypso has reported seeing the eagles perched atop this apartment building. The 2nd pic, taken at 12 noon, shows both the eagles perched on the light standard, one of them having a scratch. The 3rd pic was taken at 7:54 pm as I was walking across the parking lot.

Thanks for the compliment on the pictures sassyk. I'm glad you enjoy them.

That's an interesting angle to see the light standards from, nearly dead on straight with the perch. I was at Ogden Pt. and I saw people shooting pictures of the eagles from the deck of your cruise ship, could have even been yourself that I saw I suppose. Were these shot with a zoom lens of any kind? From the ground I was curious what kind of view the ship's residents had of the eagles so thank you for sharing these!

waveTanner, I'll have a close look at all of my pics to see if I can find someone in the parking lot taking pics:nod: I was standing on the top deck and was taking pics of the people on the ground at the back of the ship because some family members were there to welcome us home.

PS: I have looked at my pics and have some of a fellow in a blue denim shirt with a camera on a tripod standing near the end of the pier where the cruise ship came in. Was that you? If it was, I'll email you the pics if you would like them.

I have a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi and use a 300mm Ultrasonic telephoto zoom lens. It's not the best quality but it's been a good starter set for me.

Hehe...funny stuff. That may have been me. I had my camera on a tripod, and I was near the end of the pier...however I believe I was wearing a grey tshirt and green sweater. It could have been me, my memory has never been known to be very sharp. Maybe I was wearing something else.

I shoot with a Rebel XT and the USM 70-300mm IS. It really seems to be a great lens, I have even dropped it from above waist height and it came out on the other end just fine (thank God). Although this isnt the fanciest lens on the market, I find that it suits my needs just fine for the time being.

waveTanner, I looked at my pics again and the guy with the camera on the tripod is wearing blue shorts and a royal blue Tshirt. It looks like he has his sunglasses on top of his head and he has grey hair:dunno: There was a white car, a dark green car and a red truck parked at the end of the pier and the guy was behind the white car. My family members were right beside the white car. There is no capability to attach a photo here to a PM or an email but if you would like me to send you a pic, just send me a PM with your email address. I could attach a photo here if I know it is definitely you, with your permission of course, and cropping off the other people.

Not me Grin

My hair hasn't turned grey yet, although if the red truck was a Ford Ranger with a chrome toolbox...that sounds a little more familiar to me. Don't worry about posting the picture. I may have been somewhere in the area but it sounds like it was someone else with the camera gear. Thanks for offering to email the picture though!

Thanks for looking.
