I wish there were a way to get some orphaned chicks into their nest to foster like at Pigeon Forge.

Video: Deschutes Bald Eagles Are Still on the Nest

According to the book, Nests, Eggs, and Nestlings of North America by Paul J. Baicich and Colin J. O. Harrison, incubation can last 35 – 46 days.

-----------

DDT caused the shells of Eagle (and other species) eggs to be brittle and easily break during incubation. Some eagle eggs were removed (replaced by fake ones) and artificially incubated. When the chicks hatched, they were placed in the nest and the fake eggs removed. I don't have any information about fostering eaglets. Some bird will accept foster chicks and other will not.

I just happened to check in on this nest. Had it up for about 15 minutes and one of the adults rewarded me with their appearance!!! Brought food in and then hopped up on the branch and proceded to clean his/her beak off on the tree! Just flew off at 4:30 pm

Hello Hi Darlene,

Oh my, this is great news; wonderful news even. I have been watching Deschutes just hoping to get a glance of our beautiful Oregon eagles. You did it - Yes! Don't you think this is a very good sign of things to come for our 2011 nesting season? Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I swear, I clicked on "Latest Posts", saw your name at Deschutes and then I just held my breath 'til I opened the thread. Was so hoping... and sure enough - you captured them. I think they knew you were watching.

This is so exciting!
Very Happy Grin

Again, Darlene,
Thank You
