An adult was minding his own business, standing in the river, just looking around when he suddenly went on alert

Part 3 of 3

The original wading eagle decided discretion was the best part of valor and exited stage right!

I have seen and captured a couple of neat action video clips in the last few days. I just wish that the camera lens was stronger so that the distant images would be sharper.

1-26 about 2:30pm

While I was processing the images of the Chase Off, the cam focused on a pair of mallards feeding. There was an opportunistic gull hovering right next to them. Every time the male mallard would turn away from the gull, the gull would take a step forward. When the male would swing around towards the gull - the gull would back off a bit. The mallard really didn't appear to care that the gull was there, he and his mate just kept feeding. I have no idea what the gull thought he might get from them.

It was a pretty colorful image after the dull grey eagles.

About 3:00pm

Cam focused on a lone Adult eagle standing on one of the sandbars. The cam had a bit of condensation on the lens so the images are not clear.

The eagle started calling/shrieking. Throwing his head and neck forward, mouth wide open, throat visibly vibrating. Then he would throw his head straight up still calling. No other eagle or bird appeared in the cams view.

Puzzled

Cam focused on this. Appears to be about the size of an eagle, but wrong color!

What is it?

Great pictures! Grin Thank you, BET and CAL. Left thumb up

It is quite wonderful when we get to see an eagle:

But the view itself is quite spectacular:
