Evening Friends wave

2012 Fundraising Drive & Update

Many of you are aware that Hancock Wildlife Foundation (HWF) is currently conducting their 2012 Fundraising Drive and I have offered to lend a hand and update everyone on our Fundraising efforts thus far ... where we are now and how far we have to go yet.

First and foremost on behalf of David Hancock and the entire Hancock Wildlife Foundation family it is my pleasure to extend our warmest thanks to each and everyone of you for your continued support .... your contributions in time and in donations keep this forum family thriving and without your support we would surely have to close its doors.

The forum and the cams provides all of us with a unique opportunity to share in the wonder of wildlife and to visit with our friends both feathered and human :-) here on the forum. So thanks again for all that you do to support Hancock Wildlife Foundation you truely are the heart and soul of our HWF community.

There are some amazing things planned for 2012 and if you have not yet seen the Needs List yet here is the link to the list:

forum/viewtopic.php?topic=356429#356429

As you can see HWF really needs $100,000 to make all those dreams realities!

Currently we have raised about $11,000 that means we still have a shortfall of $89,000 for 2012

The funds raised to-date includes all donations received between November 2011 to June 2012 so you can see although we have made some pretty good progress we still need to raise $89,000 to achieve our fundraising goal for this year.

I am not sure if you are aware of this ...but HWF is a not for profit organization; they do not receive any grants or government funding they rely purely on donations to keep the forum and cams streaming so your support is truely needed.

There are efforts underway to secure some corporate sponsors to help us meet our financial targets but it's a work in progress. If you have any corporate contacts that you believe would be willing to donate or sponsor HWF please contact me or anyone of our volunteers and we will certainly ensure that your tip or referral is followed up on. Please include all contact information to facilitate that process.

The birds will soon be leaving their nesting areas providing David with a very short window of opportunity to visit each site and perform cam maintenance and do any upgrades and/or installations, which must be completed before the birds return. So if you have not yet made your donation or if you can donate a bit more please consider making it asap so that the equipment can be ordered and delivered to meet this short timeline.

Thank You Thank you to those of you that have donated already. To those of you that cannot afford to make a donation right now we thank you for your continued support.

Together we make a difference and as a team Wub we create magic and keep our HWF family united Left thumb up

In closing on behalf of our forum family I would also like to extend our warmest thanks to David Hancock for his dream brought us all together and David is responsible for keeping us connected and for educating so many ... warmest thanks David from all of us here...you are the best.

As donations come in we will keep you updated so that we can celebrate our progress together as a family!

Now lets create some magic together ......

Lets Go Team Lets Go

PS Sorry for being long winded...next update will be shorter I promise!

Good Morning Everyone,Hello

Goodness, where is everyone?Puzzled

I haven't been doing a whole lot except for watering, watering and more watering. We are in a moderate drought here, and everyone's lawns are pretty brown. I've been trying to water as much as I can and my lawn is spotty. Sad My flowers are pretty good as is my vegetable garden.

I feel so sorry for the animals. I've been keeping my bird baths full and I also have a pan of water on the ground which I seen a black squirrel get a drink from. My daughter had a family of wild turkeys that came to use her sprinkler in her yard. She had a lot of fun watching them. She also has informed m that she is going to visit British Columbia. I'm jealous. happy She's going to fly to Seattle on Thursday and spend two days and then she's going to Victoria on Vancouver Island. She thinks she will go to Totino, Sandspit and Haida Gwaii. I can find Totino on the atlas, but don't knpw where the last two are for sure. I took a few pictures awhile back of some of my flowers, but I just now figured out how to get them to post. My easy share was acting up for awhile. Hopefully I have this figured out.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week-end.

Hi Mary,
Gee, it's so nice to hear from you. Those lillies were called tree lillies. They're suppose to get yeah tall with big blooms. This is only the second year they have bloomed. I do like them when they are in bloom, but the bad part is that the blooms don't seem to last as long as I would like them to.

What have you been up to since you came to Michigan? I hope you been having a whopper of a good time here. Have you been able to find any good bargains?

Elaine---I planted a bunch of different colors of asiatic lillies. My sister has a large yard and she had a bunch in different colors and they are beautiful so I decided to plant a few to see if they will grow in my little yard. I really don't have too much room. I think i planted 9 of them- all different colors. I also have some day lillies. When my sister had a larger patio excavated last fall she moved a lot of plants. In a huge pile of dirt I found some of the bulb-like things for day lillies and took them home and planted them. That was just before I went home and they didn't get any care beyond me sticking them under some dirt and watering them once or twice. Guess what? They all came up and have bloomed!! I don't know how it happened but there is a red one right in the middle of the orange ones. Grin I planted a bunch of other perrenials that I'm not familiar with as we have different plants for the most part that grow in Texas. I'll have to wait til next spring to see of any of them come back--all are blooming right now. It's a big job watering them in the heat every other day by hand--no hose. We are all afraid of draining wells around here with the drought! Hopefully these local really uneducated idiots up here around me won't drain our branch of the aquifer!! We have some real doozies up here!! At least they aren't using the water to shower, wash cars or their clothes!! Rolling on floor laughing I'm just a little too far from the lake to use a pump to water stuff with lake water....three houses and a narrow street. sigh sign

Back to your lovely lillies---I've never seen a tree lily...will have to ask around.

Now that most of the nests are empty for the season I will have to start telling y'all about my summer....next post!

Hi Mary Hello

I'm still here, but I'm also wondering where everyone else is! I sure do miss everyone. Sad

I've never ever had a red Lily. Gosh I bet that was so pretty. E-gads, that must be one awful job watering without a hose. It's been so hot and dry. We finally got some much needed rain last night and this morning. Of course it wasn't near enough, buy hey, we'll take what we can get. At least I didn't have to water. I finally have given up on my side yard and only concentrating on my flowers and vegetables right now. I can hardly wait to see my next electric bill with all the watering I've been doing and having the air on constantly. (I'll probably faint)

Greg and I went to the Hartford fair today. It was a petty good day to go as the rain had stopped and it was cloudy pretty much of the time we were there. Seen the bunnys, chickens, pigs, cows and horses. We visited with a couple that we have known for years that have draft horses. Their club was selling cookbooks, so I bought one. I enjoy looking at cookbooks and I especially like to get a cookbook with everyone's favorite recipes in it. Other than that we ate some wonderful fair food. All the different smells get my appetite going hog wild. Titter

I'll be anxiously awaiting you post of what you've been up to this summer. Take care and stay cool!!!!!
