The streaming cam was down this morning and as I am back this evening it is still not operating. I checked the stills and the eaglets have been fed and the eagles have switched off and on. They were not on the nest together much today. One picture caught my attention. KC is wingercizing and it is really cute. Was sunny and warm.

Was a busy day and there is "stuff" to do here so I am signing off. Littles look great and they got to be out in the sun protected by Mom..she sat this way for more than an hour with them soaking in the sun and fresh air. They must be at the point where they are able to maintain their body temp. Click on image to download

That is indeed a wonderful pic, Donna - thanks for bringing it here! I don't think they can regulate their temperature very much until they're at least a week old - so Mom must have decided the temperature was right for them to have some fresh air. I'm watching CalTrans now, and you can see parts of the chicks poking out - they're also young, so I'm guessing it's fairly warm in California today. Smile

March 29, 2010 Low 40's over night and high 60's today.

The littles have been fed twice this morning. The eagles have switched twice also. It is sunny at the nest.

The streaming cam is operating again....

The littles appear to have been on their own for about 6 min. but I would guess one eagle is just out of sight and close by. They look pretty small on the nest. Those big eyes ......Wub....

10:30 food brought into the nest and left at 2 position on the nest.
10:32-11:00 eaglets were fed.
11:00 eagle settled over the littles and is facing 11.

We have a precocious little chick here - it's out of the nest bowl already! They're supposed to wait until they're a week old, and #1 is just four days old. And #2 is trying very hard to come along as well.

I think Dad just popped in, took a look, and said "more sticks!" Laugh

The older chick is getting fed - a reward for its effort.

And now the adult is back brooding the younger one - while the older is saying - wait a minute, what about me?

Time is 3:36 pm eastern - which I think is 1:36 nest time.

Older one is "back home"! love

Add: S'cap time stamp is PDT vice MDT.

3:26 pm,
The chicks were left alone for about 4 minutes until Dad returned to the nest. They have been uncovered and out in the open air much of the time within the last hour.

3:56 pm,
Watched the afternoon feeding from 3:56 pm to 4:12 pm. At first Banner was in submission while KC got fed. KC took a little snooze so then Banner was fed. Later, KC got back up for more food but Banner did not go back down. Did not notice any significant pecking. They were both fed well.

Little was out of the nest in a nest for almost 20 min. Interesting, when Ma or Pa went back to settle over the nest in a nest, it headed back to the parent.
