Thanks for your coverage here, Debs - I had a busy weekend and didn't have much chance to post.

Nice of you to stop by, Debbie! Must admit I am beyond thrilled to see chicks again at my "home" nest (which is several hours away from me - but is in Maine!)

Another lovely day in the forecast - a bit cooler than over the weekend, which is probably good for the chicks.

Judyb My pleasure....We are thrilled too pieces too.....love the early morning capture....of the two lil chicks watching Mom...

Debbie I missed your post yesterday no clue how that happened...doing the Maine Happy Dance along side of you too

Dad delivered a fish and Mom went into ? mode. I have seen her do this frequently. I am not sure if it's a defensive mode protecting the chicks or if it is a submissive mode



Dad left and she is not busy feeding

Bet thanks for the report and capture; I have seen many females mantle the meal to protect or claim it for the kids...usually there is some soft communication shared too... almost as if to say...thanks but this is for the kids.

I saw another feeding but forgot to record the time so estimated it.

Bet I have seen mom do that a number of time. I get the impression that the first year of them being mates and she is sometimes not really trusting of him yet.

Dad visits the nest...I missed his arrival so not sure if he brought
food ....Mom acted like he did; mantled a wee bit and she told Dad
she does not want a switch...by whining abit and moving closer to
the chicks. Dad wanted to stay....

Poor Dad he wants to bond with the chicks too.

The chicks were moving around abit so we got some nice
peeks of both these adorable chicks; Big is sporting a very
impressive crop too.
