From the chat:

Norfolk Botanical Garden:
The cam will not be back up today.
The power supply for a switch that handles all of our cams must be replaced. We are ordering it right now and hopefully it will be sent overnight and we can have it in place by tomorrow.

Success! Wildlife Center President Ed Clark reported in from the field earlier today -- he said Bald Eagle NX was successfully released at the Rapphannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge at 12:10 p.m. She flew about 75 yards to a tall tree, took in her surroundings for about five minutes, and then flew off through the woods, over an estuary, and into the forest! She did "everything she's supposed to do!"

You're welcome Mary!
Here's an audio account of NX's release that was on the WCV Facebook page:

There are pictures by James Deal, but I can only see the first two (of 5); it keeps spinning trying to load the third one.
8:33 Cam still down.

Hi Mary and Nancy and BET, and everyone else!
I betcha that they wanted NX to have a nice quiet release without too much hoopla and zero stress. She had been through a lot. This way they were ensured she was safe and could monitor how she reacted.
I am thrilled she is back out in the wild!
Also, I wish Dad Norfolk and #3 well for this season. I hope they are eating tons of fish and enjoying their lives.
This has been an incredible journey this year. Bittersweet, sweet, funny, never sure what would or will happen.
Much love here......

Nancy, it was great to see her so ready to leave. Safe travels NX. Feisty is true.

Thank you all for the links
A great release. I like the fact there were very few people adding to the stress.

Ohhhhhh come on!!!! very few things make me this angry but that release did!! Just shut the the heck up and put the poor thing out of stress and talk and prance for the cameras when she's free!! He gabs and holds her screaming for over 3 min's after she'd already been freaking out in the cage!
ackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!
live long and prosper sweet NX! stay out this time!
