That toy squirrel was brought in by mom -late morning on Friday 4/27.
It startled all of us... and it took a few moments to figure it out. For me it was the eyes ...and feet that didn't look anything like a real rodent.
Then someone saw the tag on its hind end.... an item not found in nature. I think we all had a good laugh.. except that I felt bad for mom who was trying to take care of her babies.

I finally had time to read back - been there since Apr 27th!!
It's so like the the time a teddy bear was brought in to the Delta one nest!!

3:57-58p - Mom is sitting at the top of the nest preening while little Echo and Foxy rest.
Echo raised up briefly to check out what Mom was doing.




Pat, Check out this video I made of Mom trying to decide where to
put the stuffed toy. She gave me a giggle. That toy has been rained on, stepped on, mussed with
food and yet, it looks pretty darned good still!

MOM vs. THE STUFFED TOY

4:06-4:09p - Mom did a wing stretch and flew from the nest.
Echo and Foxy sit and wait. They looked like little buddahs there for a moment, lol.


Echo gives Foxy a little love tap.


4:12-13p - I heard seagulls and saw a large bird flying right to left over the Bay.
I'm hearing one of our parents calling in the distance.

4:18p - Fox has her little head resting between the sticks.


4:20p - Poo shot from Echo out the 10 window....glad the chippy wasn't in the line
of fire, lol.

4:27p - Echo has been moving around quite a bit; now settled with Foxy at 3.

4:29p - Mom is home with a midshipman. Feeding begins with Echo who is
conveniently located to get first bites, lol.

Echo nudges and gets a bite or two.


4:34p - Dad came in and perched on the lookout.


4:35p - Mom flew down and out. Dad moved down from the lookout to the nest
and did a lot of digging mid-nest.

4:40-44p - Mom returns with more small prey.

Foxy getting bites.

Echo had been sitting facing 4 then moved up ahead of Foxy and was fed. The last two
feedings did not last but a few minutes. Both feedings were awfully close to the nest edge.

7:40pm........Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good day! Mom and her 2 little ones are in the nest and enjoying a family grooming session.
