Howdy, Jill, Karen, Carolyn, and gr8gran68! Hello

Sorry I haven't been around much...again...but this past few days has been busy around here, and it's not over yet. I've been trying to get my car fixed after a hail storm...baseball size hail...broke my windshield and put huge dents all over my car. My car is undrivable and still sitting at work and the glass man is supposed show up today fingers crossed to replace the windshield so I can drive it to get an estimate on the rest of the damage. All that and trying to juggle getting my son to work using my dad's Ford F-150 (aka Gas HOG!) to the tune of $20 a day. Faint As a bonus, the truck does ride nice, and I can see all sorts of things I can't see in my little car...and people get out of my way. happy Anyway, things should be back to normal soon...whatever 'normal' is. Laugh

gr8gran68, Doug has retired the cams that are in the nest. He said Ma and Pa have almost completely covered up the CU and the WA is on the fritz, so even he isn't able to see much into the nest. The cam that we're seeing now was put in the Gregg's tree, which is near the nest tree, by HEGPS. I agree it's not ideal, but at least we can still see Ma and Pa. Once the chicklets are big enough, we should also see their heads above the edge of the nest. (it's assumed there are 2 since Ma always lays 2 eggs each year and assuming they both hatched) I also loved seeing right into the nest. Sad

As far as Doug's updates, he hasn't posted any lately. We're assuming he's really busy right now, especially since he's also retired and has alot of things he and Sheila would like to do now that they have more freedom. Maybe once things settle down, he'll have time to let us know what he's been up to....and reports on those 2 little stinkers and their offspring.

Thanks Nightowl, really sorry to hear about your car...geeeeez, baseball size hail!!!! (as I'm watching my baseball game...lol). Driving a truck is great fun, but yes they do guzzle the gas..
I guess they can't uncover the CU cam, or is it un-operable as well as the WA one? I am still whining about not seeing into the nest, lol. Roll eyes sigh sign I will try to suck-it-up though Rolling on floor laughing

Hey gr8gran68! Hello

Yep, driving a truck is fun ( I drove a Chevy Silverado for years before I got my little car) but oh my...the cost of the gas was eating me alive! I did get my car back today with a bright shiny new windshield. Grin

The CU works, but Doug said there's only a sliver in the upper left corner he can see, and then only see their feet. Whistling Even if it didn't work, no one can legally go up the tree during breeding season. I don't know if Doug even plans to have the WA worked on or not, but if he does, it'll have to wait till around September, when the eagles are off the island..and before October when they return. I hope the chicklets tromp down the nest some so at least Doug can see into it...and hopefully report to us. fingers crossed

Howdy! Hello

Karen, I don't know much about Osprey, but how many chicklets do they normally have and do they only have one clutch per year? Are they anything like eagles, as far as nesting habits? Like, do they pick a tree to build a nest in that is fairly open at the top for fly in and fly outs? ( the ones in Finland seem to pick an 'open air' nest) You'll have to post the link to that nest so I can give them a look-see. Nodding I bet the chicklets are cute as buttons, too. love

WOW! What a fantastic photo of the moon! Left thumb up It's been pretty rainy around here also, so I don't think we've seen much of the moon either. I heard something about this is supposed to be the brightest moon? I'll have to remember to look out and see if I can see it tonight.

Well, the owlmobile is fixed as far as the windshield goes. She's got a purty shiny new one now, and it is just like the original one. If I could just get the body fixed now. My son suggested I name the car 'Dimples'. Roll eyes I was going to post the photos I took with my phone. I thought I uploaded them to the computer, but I have no idea where they are now...I can't find them on here anywhere. Don't Know Guess I need to have my daughter look and see if she can find them, or have her upload them. Heaven knows what I did! Laugh
