Good morning!

Another chick has hatched #4!

There also were 2 incidents again last night.


Another report of owl incidents last night. Information from Cornell Herons Twitter.

12:11 AM Dad appears to have thrown the eggs shells away on egg #4, which is assumed to have hatched.

2:12 AM EST, 4/30/12: Coyotes (for real) heard howling in the distance. All is calm at the nest.

3:42 AM EDT 4/30: Dad flew off, flies right back, camera cuts out and then there is screaming heard!

3:42 AM EDT 4/30: At one point, two herons can be heard screaming. Cam still out, but lots of herons yelling.

3:45 AM EST 4/30: Around now, cam comes back and we can see Dad on the nest, settling back down. Chicks are quiet.

3:54 AM EDT 4/30: Dad's back up, then at 3:55, cam goes out and more screaming by Dad. Cam back, dad on nest again.

5:03 AM EDT 4/30: Dad is up again and we get a pretty good look at the chicks...fairly certain there are 4! And one egg left!

I've been looking at a lot of baby heron pictures and the only thing I could think of was how much their "hair" looks like Rod Stewart's hair early in his career---and they sound like him too!!

I had a few s'caps but they look like those already posted sooooo--maybe tomorrow morning we will have a 4th baby!!

1:15PM nest time--Dad is on the nest and it's windy - his nuptial feather is standing traight up in the wind.
