I'm posting gemini2kds post here from Hornby...

GG it could a compatable issue im a pc user vista and use adobe flash player and I also have mozilla firefox I cannot get either chat or picture awhile back I checked on chat to see who was still there chatting and I could see but now I cant also I cannot see all the photos on forum none of decorah but I can see guys photos from Haida Gwaii but not from white rock.

My first thought was maybe a defrag would help since they could see pictures in the forum before, but not now?

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know what just happened, but I had Hornby up and the screen went black. When I refreshed, I got 'missing plug in' on both the cam and chat, so I tried the Cornell Red-tailed Hawk cam...same thing 'missing plug in'.

I haven't touched a thing on this computer, so I'm at a complete loss as to what plug in is missing.

Have you tried rebooting the computer? Which browser are you using?

I just checked Hornby using Firefox and it was fine. I did do an update to Flash today - don't know if that was relevant (and still needed to click the square in the corner to see our cams, but haven't done a reboot yet).

Do you have another browser you could try? I don't use Chrome, so am not good at suggestions for it.

Thanks for the help, Judy! I rebooted and everything seems fine now. Everything is back the way it was. Darn computers are a mystery to me.

I'm using Google Chrome, and till now it hasn't given me any problems...till now. I do have IE (forgot which version, but the latest...and it's s-l-o-w) and Firefox downloaded.

Nightowl, I've had a similar thing happen to me - computers. I usually log off restart and then seems to be o.k.:dunno::hello:

Thanks Marg! I'm thinking Google Chrome had a bit of a hissy fit, and needed a time out.

It's all fine now and everything is working again. Go figure.

Help... I am getting pretty desperate to try and get this old clunker PC working better (XP Pro; IE8) My service provider offers an anti-viral package (McAffee) which I am told is uses more room than the previous anti-viral they used... ANY WAY It has a 'clean up' program that it says could make my PC faster. I have included a s'cap of what it says below... I'm dying to try it but I'm afraid in case it somehow could make my situation worse... any feedback to help me understand what to expect if I use this would be a great help. Thanks!!

I'm not sure what to suggest, Terry. My guess is that Shaw Cable has tested it and it won't hurt - but I don't know if it will help. It might - if your computer has gotten a lot slower recently, there might be something here that would help. But I don't know of any way to tell without running it.
