A hawklet is definitely currently in the process of hatching after seeing a number of potential pips over the past couple of days. Image courtesy Cornell Lab Of Ornithology:

WOW ostrich! What a fantastic s'cap of the little guy! I can almost hear him chirping to get out. Cool

When I get time, I'll have to check out the cam sometime Monday. I should be able to get my first glance of a newly hatched hawklet. Wub

Holy moly! I turned on the cam hoping to get a glimpse of one or two new hawklets, and what do I see? SNOW! Faint I'm assuming this is Big Red all covered in snow.

Temperature is around freezing, and the snow has turned to light rain. Definitely a challenge, but lots of nests have dealt with similar weather and come through fine. Keeping my fingers crossed.

They've confirmed a hatch, and the male Ezra has taken over incubation/brooding. I didn't have time to look at all the links on the cam site, but they said he also gave the new chick a brief feeding.

Still looks wet - but much better than this morning.
