One on the nest started looking off to right as if something was happening and sure enough. The second O landed - took off right away. It is now back. Need to see them both facing the cam to id But who ever is which one - we have them both now

WEATHER FOR CALGARY

BET, thanks for emailing me with the news of a second O arriving. Keeping fingers crossed today that it is actually the mate to this one.

7:00 a.m.
One O has been perched on the nest rim for the past half hour or so. Going by the head markings it is the same one that has been at the nest for the past few days.


7:26 a.m.
No change at all. The same O is still watching over the river. The odd goose or duck has floated down the river but there has been no sign of a second O yet.

7:33 a.m.
Tired of standing on one side of the rim. She now moves to the opposite side and picks at the sticks.


7:36 a.m.
A bit of flapping as she gets her feet untangled from the branches. I thought maybe she would fly off but she remained on the nest.


7:38 a.m.
She finally flies off and heads out over the river.

7:39 a.m.
She was gone all of one minute and returns with a small stick.
I was thinking if that visitor yesterday was a mate that he'd be helping with the nest this morning.
Maybe it was a two year old chick returning to this territory which is why she didn't chase it off. I guess we'll have to think like osprey to know what is going on here.


Okay, she flew off and arrived again shortly. Where the heck is that other O if he's a mate ???

8:16 a.m.
Our one O is still at the nest.
I hate to admit that I am beginning to have doubts that the visitor was a mate because usually once a pair are reunited they BOTH work on nest preparations. I don't know what to think at this point.

8:17 a.m.
She began chittering a warning at something then promptly flew off


8:19 a.m.
Nest visitor


8:26 a.m.
No one home.
