I went to Beacon Hill Park this afternoon and both eagles were perched at the top of the tree next to the nest tree when I first arrived. When I came back from my tour of the park, there was only 1 eagle in the tree and I didn't see the other one. My park employee contact said they have been coming and going from the nest for the past few weeks. I will post some pictures tomorrow.

A few pics of the Beacon Hill Park eagles and their nest. It is definitely bigger than it was last year but still a small nest. The quality of these pics is not good as it was a very stormy day and had already started to rain. I also had my short lens on. Click bigger.

Bad news for the Beacon Hill Park eagles Cry Half of their nest blew down in a wind storm; sticks all over the ground around the nest tree, 1 large and 1 small pile of nesting material on the ground near the nest tree, and a broken egg near the large pile of nesting material. The egg is quite smashed and I'm not sure it is an eagle's egg Don't Know But, I don't know what other birds in the park would have eggs at this time of year. No sign of either eagle Sad I took pictures and will post them later.

ETA: I am now thinking the broken egg shell is a heron's egg, probably stolen from a nest in the park or from the ground, probably last spring.

KAY, That is sad news ...I do hope your right about the egg with so many of our other Families already incubating eggs.
Talons crossed that they still have time to try and rebuild. I have never thought to ask what they would do in such a case.
There nests are usually strong enough to with stand the winds, but I hear that they have been realy bad .
Will be looking for further updatesfingers crossed

May the Sun be at your back, and an Eagle in front of your lens.

Very sad news indeed. Ian and I walked through the park last Saturday afternoon on our way home from town and thought the nest looked damaged. We didn't have a camera or binoculars with us.

Hi There. I had tears as I read about your eagle's nest. I certainly have talons double crossed that these eagles can rebuild and carry on. I hope the season gets better for them. I will check future posts for updates.
