wavewave Kay - Thanks for stopping by. I'm so happy that you are enjoying this thread. The Lummi flats area where these nests are located is a raptor bonanza. Later today, I will post a few photos from yesterday's visit to the area. Cheers !

I stopped to look at this Red-Tail hawk who was soon joined by another. These were then joined by two Northern Harriers and then a sub-adult eagle joined the group, all soaring overhead.

This "sub-adult" is in that awkward stage where head and tail are starting to turn white.
This bird is probably 4-5 years old.

A few minutes later I watched it and another Shrike in pursuit of a small bird. The chase lasted quite a while till I lost sight of them near the base of the nest tree.

17:02 These two were perched in a tree near the Nooksack River delta, about 2 kilometers Southeast of the Smugglers Slough nest.

Nooksack Nest * 3-20-10 * Happy Equinox !!
Today I rode my bike up to the Nooksack nest. Here are a few pictures from my visit to the area.
It was very odd. There was a Sub-Adult perched in a tree by the nest, but the nesting pair were up river a kilometer or so.
