On to visit our OWL nest on the way out of Delta. I know Kay recently posted the same picture. You can see the frame work DH erected last year and how very shallow the nest still is.

Sandra, glad you made it to Boundary Bay to see the Snowy Owls. Great pics The GBH with the messy hair looks like a young one. I photographed many of them at Beacon Hill Park this past summer. They do look funny

That peekaboo one made me laugh when I spotted it as well Lori. I didn't realize you have snowys around Lake Huron too! They are amazing.

I did a quick tour of the area surrounding the Delta OWL nest and here's what I found:

Bandit's old nest - you sure can tell that no one is using it - there's moss growing on it! For comparison purposes there are several older pictures posted on this thread, from 2010, taken by myself, BirdofPrey and Stim.

Across the street from Bandit's nest and down about 1 block I noticed this in the tranmission tower. I'm not out that way too often so I don't know how long it's been there but it's definitely the beginnings of an eagle nest.





About 1/2 mile east of the Delta OWL nest is this beauty. It's been there for several years now (at least) and if you look to the right you can see 1 of the adults standing guard. There is another nest, about 1/2 mile north of it, that could possibly be the secondary nest for this pair, or it could be home base for a completely different pair. I was unable to get a picture of it due to all the construction taking place on 72nd Street (they're building an overpass for the train tracks which, once done, will be great - no more waiting 20 minutes for the train to pass - but right now it's a gigantic mess).



These were the only nests that I could find in the immediate area. If Ma and Pa have moved on I don't know where they went.
