Heading back to my car I met a very nice couple who live across the road from where the eagles were and we had a nice chat about the birds. They always enjoy seeing them and have a very nice view when the eagles congregate there.

The Yale Rd. nest is a short distance down the road so I headed to check on it. I could see both adults perched in the nest tree so stopped for a few pics.



It looks like the nest tree has suffered some damage since my visit on the 10th.

At least two large branches have come down.

Maybe they knew the tree was unsafe and that was why they didn't use the nest last season. I wish I could find their other nest.

Heading home I spotted a juvenile perched over another slough.


It had company drop in as I was pulling over.


A few blocks from home there was an adult and sub-adult perched in a friend's yard.

I didn't get to check on any of the nests that I had planned to, but it was still an excellent day of eagle viewing.

Sometimes the unplanned things turn out better than the planned.

Great drive & bonus meeting with yet more loving locals.

Glad you put in the "before" pic of the damaged tree for comparison. That one limb fell "up" instead of down.

Scott, “sunny and a little above freezing so I went out….”. You have an extra jacket we could borrow? What a great trip. Cougar! Wouldn’t it be great to get a picture of one! On the third picture of the juvie you took at 1:01 my time, there is evidence of a large split in that branch too! Did you have a bad storm there recently? I absolutely love the shot under that one. I saved so many today! Quite a large limb missing now and the dangling limb is big too! Great to see the adult and sub adult near your home.You live in such a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.
Love that bird in the leaves, green growth, and ice. Great. You keep finding such great eagles, it may be a while before you make the other nests.
