The only eagle seen was once again in the old nest/perch tree, looking very regal in the bright sunlight.
This was between 2:15-2:20. After turning the camera off and starting to leave we witnessed a fly away from the tree, towards the water.

Hello Davis Bay drew us again today. This time I wanted to walk the length and back in the sun, looking for storm damage along the way, not really intending on taking pictures. We hadn't even parked when I saw what we thought was an adult perched above the washrooms, and on taking pictures, discovered the juvie sitting fairly low in a tree almost on the beach not too far away. Thank goodness I had taken my camera!
While taking pictures, I mentioned to David I thought the "adult" might be a sub adult. Yup!

We did go on our walk to discover the creative leanto someone built is gone. Oh My An adult was perched in the same tree at your end of the bay, didn't have the camera with us for the walk. On returning to our end of the bay both eagles were still posed in their respective trees so we got down on the beach and actually walked under the juvie sitting low. It must be used to humans like Bluster would be. very embarrassedWhistling

Our juvie rewarded us with preening a bit just before we left. We had missed the poop shot talking with another couple there Sad but got some preening. And just as we drove away, juvie flew out of the tree to the NW, same as sub adult had done previously while out of range of shot.
We did not dare go to the nest site as I needed to get home to get Sunday roast into the oven. I had spied an eagle in the nest tree on driving by on the highway into Davis Bay around 1:15. We were close to an hour there.

Great pictures Sandra. Clapping

We had an exciting afternoon. Went for our usual walk at Davis Bay and at 2:50pm we saw a juvie (may be a sub adult) at the top of a tree near the B&B.

We watched it for a while and saw it fly off to the sandbar at the beach near Chapman Creek. We then had our walk and headed to the Stalashen Nest.

There it is heading to the sandbar (look at the extreme right of the picture).

More to come from the Stalashen Nest.

They were calling out and then I saw another eagle flying by, look to the right.

There is a gun club with a firing range not too far away and you will hear the gunshots.

Hello Yes, Marg, a rewarding day all around. Clapping I'm so glad you saw some action too. I love your shots with the moon included. It does add an element of awe. I'm thrilled both adults were back in the nest tree protecting what they have claimed. Interesting, I've never heard gunshots while visiting the neighbourhood. They were very obvious in your videos.
We missed you by about 20 minutes, but did get home in time to pop the roast in to cook. Grin
Enjoy another sunny one today!
