I've just been reading through this!
Wow - what a team effort
Thank you Kay - for seeing the problem and knowing who to call.
Elle and Ian for turning out to give help where needed
Jeff and Mindy For getting the goose safe!
And everyone for capturing it all photographically!
I hope the prognosis is as good as they hope.

Thanks everyone.
Unfortunately the goose rescue story does not have a happy ending. His injuries were too extensive; a compound fracture and open wound with severe infection and part of the wing was dead. Everyone at WildArc fell in love with the little guy and felt terrible that he had to be put down but it was apparently the only viable option. RIP little goose.

Aw, elle, I am so sorry to hear the sad ending. Hope it was warm, dry and comfortable for a bit at the end. What a pity he had to suffer with that injury. Everyone's efforts are to be applauded.

I was very saddened when I heard the news that the goose had to be euthanized The day I discovered it, I stood on the beach for a long time talking to it and trying to coax it to come closer to me. I knew when it spread its wing that it was a severe injury, and had prepared myself for a less than happy ending, should it happen. Rest in peace my little friend

Very sad news I'm so glad that the little goose didn't suffer out there in the cold till the end and that's thanks to you Kay and your reporting this to WildArc...I'm thinking about you and your "little friend"

Oh, what a shame
But the rescue was still worth the effort - the poor thing might have struggled for some time with those injuries - we wouldn't want that!

Oh Kay and all the rescuers of the injured goose - I am sorry it did not make it. That it got good care and TLC from such awesome people is beyond wonderful. Y'all are just so amazing!
