Watched a brooding adult on the nest just before dark today.
~~~~~~~
2009-2010 Season:
- eggs laid: seen January 5; maybe January 8; maybe January 11
- egg lost: CRC reported February 11 that only two eggs remained in the nest
- hatched: February 12, 7:45 am (38 days if 1st egg); February 13, seen 11:45 am (36 days)
- sad news: the younger chick likely died early February 13; no significant movement was seen after hatching
- named: Noah, in honor of Lance Corporal Noah Pier, a Marine from Charlotte who died last month while serving overseas
- to hacking tower: March 27 (43 days old)
- transmitter attached: April 17 (64 days old); gender determined to be female
- tower doors opened: May 6
- fledged: May 7, 1:47 pm (84 days)
- last seen: Noah did not return to the tower, but was seen in the area by volunteers from the CRC 4-5 days after she fledged
- tracking info: Noah headed North after about a week and was reported on May 20 to be in an area of Virginia with lots of eagles and poor cell phone reception (her transmitter uses cell towers); there have been no additional reports as of late August
Cal...I tried that cam and it has a nice close-up pic but I couldn't even get it to refresh. I've written to the station to see if they can give me some info on the cam.
Daybreak...That's exactly the same picture I was seeing for a couple of hours. Maybe the cam is offline for some reason...or STUCK!!:razz:
I do hope I hear back from them. Funny enough I may have looked at this cam years ago and forgot about it as I was registered at that particular TV station. Maybe in '05 or '06.
CAL04 and others, would you like a discussion thread set up for this eagle cam under the "Other North American Eagle Cams" part of our forum ?
This looks like a VERY interesting nest to watch.
