Quote by: mjbThe wind has settled down today.........very gray outsisde and lots of "off and on" showers. I just missed seeing the adult in the nest...........that will teach me to pay attention! It's nice to see an adult is around after not seeing one for a while.............it promises of things to come!
I'm hearing them too! It (or they) must be near.
You're right, mjb! it is as calm and still today as it was windy yesterday
~3:34pm squawks continue once in a while ...
I came for the eagles, and stayed for the friends I made

Hi Terry and mjb
I am hearing the shrill trills too. Not a sound I recall unless an alarm, does anyone remember that call? Very short shrill bursts. Maybe staking out territory?? No sign of an eagle though.
I worried that in that horrible wind the last few days...the nest would crash to the ground.

SATURDAY - October 22, 2011
GREAT catches Terry! That looks like Dad WR.....very sleek head.
I call the branch where Dad is perched in your s'cap the "lookout" as that's where they always perch and look around for long periods of time. Look at that crop on him......he's been eating well!
3:29p I've been hearing one of them since 3:10p not very far away....if not high in the nest tree then perched
in a tree closeby. The 'calls' are kinda muted...no loud trills.
3:30p - Two loud calls close then trills x2 a little farther away.

HI Arlene, The trills I just heard sounded like normal calls they make. Maybe it's Dad calling Mom to
come home and get started on her housekeeping.

I'm not sure what they mean but they strike me as calls from Pa, as the males have the higher pitched voice. My imagination tells me he's trying to get Ma's attention. If there was trouble the calls would be loud and persistent and we'd all "Know' there was something wrong (Not a sound we want to hear!)
PS~ 4:23pm I've just noticed the wind is picking up a bit since about 4oclock
4:33PM OUT
going to watch Lafarge now..

Morning WR! A lovely sunny fall morning it is.
9:55 Distant trills heard.
9:58 Very loud and close train whistle. That's enough to wake you up if coffee isn't doing it!
No visual of birds of any kind.

3:44pm no sign of eagles -- I will be here about 1/2 hour or so.
As I hit submit an eagle flew from the top of the tree down and away to screen left.
Too bad we don't have a view of just a bit more of the top of the tree.
3:52pm I can hear trilling off in the distance -- my volume is quite low
I came for the eagles, and stayed for the friends I made
