Just home from work, beautiful and sunny day in Sydney!

4:35.... S2 just finished doing some awesome wingers Smile Doesn't look to have much of a crop that I can tell...

4:37... S2 seems to be picking at something, obviously food as he swallowed it! A few more wingers and a bit of grabbing objects with his talons...seems frisky right now!

4:40... Looks like Dad on the nest with food, S2 is trying to self feed, parent flew off and left the partially eaten fish for S2, he's doing a fine job of holding the fish down with his talons and eating itSmile

This is the first time I've personally witnessed S2 self feeding...

4:44...S2 still eating...

Here is some video I took last night. It was a feeding of a good sized fish but I paused the first 5 minutes as the fish was still alive. At the end Stu is self-feeding!

large fish brought in that kept Stu busy for awhile

I adopted the Delta2 nest!

Thanks for the video, Darlene. That was a big fish, too bad that Stu didn't get that much of it before Dad took it away but glad to see him feeding on the "tail end" that Dad did bring back. I had turned on cam at 4:30, just before you, Debbie, so we watched the same self-feeding that Darlene also caught near the end of her video.

It is interesting that Dad seems to have taken over the feeding sessions and is trying to wean S2 from being fed to actively feeding himself. S2 still doesn't have the strength to hold and pull off much of the prey but guess he will get stronger with practice.

I had to shut down early last night as had a problem detected and later corrected by microsoft.Phew

Today's obs.:
4:46 am to 5:35 am Stu sleeping

5:54am Head up, very sleepy-looking but eyes open, gradually waking but still laying down

6:03 am. Stands up, stands on right leg a few minutes, wingercizing at 6:06 am

6:07 - 6:17 am Backs up at two o'clock for a ps, stays there and preens a bit

6:26 am Now standing near mid-nest on left leg, preening a bit and looking around. Calm and healthy-looking.love

6:34-44 am Now with back to cam, showing gorgeous feathers, preening.

6:44-55am Turned to left side of nest, standing on right leg again, looking around.
No crop showing, just feathers. Would be nice to see some food early before today's heat but that doesn't
seem to be the usual pattern here.

6:58 am Stu back to centre nest, laying in nest, gorgeous close-ups! Where are you, BET, Terry et al? Laugh

I'm out for now.

Wednesday Oct 19

I have not been watching for the last several days. Our weather has been good and will be for the next week so I am taking advantage of it to rebuild by fence that one of the trees fell on in last spring's storm. It has been such a major chore, I have put it off and put it off and now with winter approaching, I need to get it fixed as it is the high side of my dog yard and is where I prefer to have them in the wet winter months. Less mud! So I have not been nor will I be doing much in the way of posting.

And. it's baseball's play off time and my very favorite team - The Red Birds - St Louis Cardinals was playing for and won the National League TitleCheers and now on to the WorldClapping Series starting tomorrow!

I did have the video running for a bit this morning and some time around 7:00am the controller went to close ups. Here are some really nice head shots

2;43pm Stu is standing on the nest near the 9oclock spot. He looks very good Wub

Thanks for the close-ups BET! I've been trying to give some time to our other nests lately and like you haven't been here in a couple of days

Not being a baseball person I will stay solidly neutral as the World Series plays out. Cheers

9:09 am it was either a yawn or Stu just called out briefly... I have not observed much evidence of vocalizations here from Stu. I wonder if they are just a quiet bird?

9:27 am Stu still Standing around looking cute

9:43pm stu is still standing and looking around
