Good Morning all!

As of last night the 3rd egg had not hatched. I checked the PPO blog and facebook this morning and the egg is still there. I think we can pretty much come to the conclusion that this egg is not viable and we will have only two owlettes this season.




Chicks are getting big!

5:13pm- Look at the size of that chick!

6:12pm- Mom left and two chicks are awake. Looks like there might be egg shell along the sides of the nest. Wonder if Mom destroyed it?? Maybe we will have a better view when the chicks move around?

My goodness - they sure grow fast! Thanks for all the pictures, Jean - and wonderful to see some of Pappa as well!

Hi Judy! It is unbelievable how big they are already.

Chick2- Hatch date: October 5th

I thought Mom might have destroyed the egg but it's still there!

9:35pm- The is still in the nest!

Good Morning all!




2:07am- Chicks must be napping. Mom is shiedling them from the sun.

3:45pm- Chicks are awake and Mom is tending to them. Lone egg still there!

Day 10 - 12 October and day time viewing is getting good
3:50pm Central African Time: Pot Plant Owl is such a loving mom. I'm watching her from my desk as she preens her two chicks. The chicks are getting so big! I can't remember them growing this quickly in previous years, but they probably did.

The advice on what to do with Shelly (the unhatched egg that is in the nest): I spoke to Nicci from Freeme Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. Nicci confirmed what I suspected - that it is probably best to leave the egg in the nest and let PPO decide what to do with it. When the chicks are older and away from the nest, we can remove the egg.

For those enquiries about the sandals on our Pot Plant Owl online store: I will let you know as soon as I receive word back from the USA. Hopefully I will get an answer overnight and be able to update you tomorrow.
