Thanks for the margarita and recipes Elle, Debs and Kay. I'm going crazy here wanting to try them all. Don't Panic The only thing I don't like about margaritas is that I have to limit the number I drink. John, I think proper credit for Margaritaville would go to Jimmy Buffet, though I truly love The Eagles. (coincidence? I think not. Chin )

Hi Irish Eyes. I do so love your user name. Each time I see it I want to break out in song with an Irish brogue.

Very Happy SJ. Here's to the both of us growing strong and healthy again! Very Happy

I thought I'd say something about a local matter that you folks may be aware of (I haven't searched through the forums yet). Folks have been following a local black bear family on the web with a camera that a wildlife researcher placed in a bear den. One of the beloved bear cubs, named Hope, has apparently been killed by a hunter. The article brought on some discussion ranging from anger at the hunter to anger at the researcher for humanizing the bears. This struck home for me as something often replayed here that's near and dear to our hearts (an ode to Sidney  ). Drawing from what you folks have taught me, I left the following reply. I thought you would like to read it, since it comes from you as well:

Wildlife cameras on the web are a wonderful tool to learn and teach about animals in the wild. But they also teach us, or should, that all life on this planet is subject to tragedy and suffering. It is the price all animals pay for the opportunity to experience life. It's alright to cry over the loss of a bear one has become acquainted with, but one then should shed tears for all the creatures who have lived and died. It's alright to be upset at some hunter who killed Hope, if one also is upset with every predator that took a life.

If we want to apply emotion to this mix, we must consider the big picture, not just the individual tragedies. If we can't cope with the reality of Hope, we can't cope with life itself. This is our natural world, and it is what we must accept to live here on Earth. There is no alternative, and any effort to change it will destroy that which is.

That's a lesson. Go ahead and cry a tear for Hope. Then move on, and some day we'll cry a tear for you.

This stuff really tugs at my heart!

Howdy Sitting eagle Nesters!

Have a fine day also, Bev and thanks for the 'Good Morning' card! Grin

Mmmmm Thank You Sj for sending the team out with Tims and goodies esp. Ice Caps for afternoon break!

Hi there Debs! You sound 'chipper' today! Are you working yet? 'Cause you were up early I see!

Hey Jude, hope all goes smoothly at the homestead! Grin Left thumb up fingers crossed

Ah Grizz, yes, of course, there is Jimmy Buffet. It seems on my radio station they prefer the Eagles version; who knows why? I like your reply to animals in the wild being on cameras and how we tend to 'humanize' them! Well said!

Don't forget to light candles now and then for our friends and relatives. (Just copy and paste the link below.)

I'm Out; have a good day all! LOL Cool hug  Left thumb up Whistling wave

Sorry Grizz. After reading that newspaper article I have no respect whatsoever for the subhuman who wrote those comments on Facebook about Hope and Lily. That is beyond despicable.

Good afternoon Nesters

With deepest sympathies to all of us who have been following Lily and her family:cry1:
The latest news of Hope is very sad indeed:cry1:

Maybe this will help cheer people uphug

A baby boy elephant born yesterday at the San Diego Zoo. I don't like to see wild animals living their lives in zoos any more than most of you do, but I can't help but think they are a lot safer there than out in the wildSad

Very sad day to learn of Hope's death. Twisted
I work with finding home's for dog's on another site and it's just as upsetting when people turn in their animal's to a death house (animal control).

People that just kill for the fun of it..it's not a sport, it's a personal deficiency IMO!!!

We have gun's but feed the wild animals here..we don't kill them and protect our property from road hunters!

Some people are so stupid that they can't read signs here so they paint the trees a light pinkish/lavendar
(seriously)
Maybe they need to do that to ALL the trees where the bear's are. Must be sooo upsetting to several member's who's state they live in!
