Jude, think you are right about that grass! Laugh
Yes, finally starting to dry out here though the rivers are still pretty high. Flooding much worse over in PA and NY. So much loss.

Update September 10 by Iain......
"Still on Elk River in Sutton. She really likes it here! "

Maybe Dad and Tiny2 caught up with her and they are having a family reunion. Smile

Nice pictures of the grass growing, Jude! One of our local pairs of osprey didn't raise a family this year, and I think they'll need to bring in a mowing machine next spring - though I've lived in Maine long enough to know that the winter weather will take care of that for them, adding to the bottom layer of next year's nest.

And thanks for bringing over Iain's latest update, Sherri! I noticed that Iain also wrote about Saco's travels on their blog (http://nhnature.blogspot.com/ and scroll down to September 2nd).

I brought up the camera because I thought it would be calming to watch the little waves, even though there are no osprey to see - wrong! Titter

Charlie and I were out on the water yesterday, and only saw one osprey - I think a young one, though it had flown off before I got the binoculars out. I told it that it was time to be heading south, and wished it a safe journey. The chick at the Halifax, Nova Scotia, nest is still in residence, and it's still warm here, so there's time - but I think most of the New England osprey are heading south like Saco and Tiny2.

Hello JudyB and Sherri !

So good of you both to stop by with pictures, and great new information about Saco. Wouldn't it be fun if Tiny2 and Dad really DID meet up with Saco? We may never really know if that happened but we can "imagine" it, right?hug

The picture of the big crane arm over the nest by JudyB makes me think......ChinMaybe it's Gerard climbing up to the nest to measure the grass?????TitterNodding If it were him, I hope to see him waving.wave

Thanks again girls! Nice to see life at the dam, even though it isn't our O's.

Mornin' all Mug of coffee Smile
Jude Laugh haven't heard from Gerard in a bit; maybe he did make his way to NH. Smile

Judy, I hadn't seen the entry of 9/2 on the blog. Thanks for pointing that out.
I did have the cam up quite a bit since they left and most of the time didn't see the construction equipment. Wow, good thing I know there is some distance
between it and nest or I would think they would knock the nest over.

Hope your little 'loner' is on his way south. We are seeing quite a few migrating osprey here. Seems strange that many left earlier than 'the norm' this
year. NH and CT certainly ahead of other years.
A photographer friend saw 10 of them fishing near our Milford nest this past week so likely traveling together.

Hellooo, well that grass must be Kentucky Blue grass, days are too short for it to grow and that stuff
does not grow that high either,i accept defeat.Saco is really learning her skills
before she heads out on her journey, staying inland and avoiding all the storms, smart little girl that
she is,and the rivers are steaming with
trout migrating up rivers to spaw.it's that time of year when the river's become very plentiful with trout
and it just could not be a better situation
for Saco.So odd, last year at the Middle Cove site the juvie and male were never seen again after
the hurricane Igor, and neither was Tiny2 after
that big storm, but the male did come back to Middle Cove this year and chances are Tiny2 and
pops are doing fine, now that Tiny2 is banded
we will have the slight opportunity to possibly hear news of him in the lol, next decade,if Jazzel or Rob
or anybody with a live cam spot an osprey
and identify the band, wouldn't that be nice.I love the grass stories, keep bringing them on,i love a laugh,
i tell my friends at work i'm beyond the mock, rather i set
myself up on purpose and it leads to lots of fun, what is this world without laughter, that measuring stick,
i loved that one.

At 7:15 this morning I looked in on the web cam and found the crane with bouncing cables in the back ground. The men are there bright and early!
