Hi Kay:

Good grief, What’s up with that heron? Did it attack a gull? Any idea as to the origin of the feathers? Enlarging the third photo, it sort of looks like a blue bird in the heron’s beak. Neat photos of all the oystercatchers. I’m lucky to just find one. Well, I think it’s time for coffee and a doughnut. I don’t know why, but after seeing your photos I think I’ll pass on Tim Horton’s. Do they recycle old cups?

Hi Ed, in the 3rd photo of the heron, it had a goose feather in it's beak. All the swans, seagulls, geese, ducks, seem to be molting and the water close to the shore was full of feathers of every kind and colour. It was funny to watch the heron because an adult mute swan was standing just to the right of it and the heron kept turning it's head to try and look around the swan, before walking right in front of it to the other side.

I don't think Tim Horton's would take in cups to recycle themGrin The people with the huge bag of seed had just come from Tim Hortons with their coffee and donutsLaugh

A few pics of the lone trumpeter swan at Esquimalt Lagoon. He is bigger than the mute swans and can be very aggressive, but usually gets along well with the others. Click bigger.
