I got the pictures a bit out of order. The one I posted of the parent flying out happened just a bit after Ocean's fly out.

The first 5 pictures I posted today came after the ones in this set in time.

What beautiful pictures - thank you, Watcher! It's interesting that the adult is staying in the tree with Sunset and Ocean - I know that the adults are usually nearby, but it seems less frequent for them to be so close when the eaglets get this big and active.

Great pictures Sher.Hello
I haven't been able to check on the eagles lately but you have had some luck seeing these in and around the nest.
We don't know when these eaglets branched or fledged. Maybe one of them is being lazy (Sunset possibly the youngest)...Roll eyes Let us know if you do see Sunset fly out of the tree.

Hi JudyB glad you came by.Hello We are finding lots of nests in and around Sechelt.

Thank you for your posts.
Re: Nests - I was in the process of putting down how many eaglets in the Stalashen nest and have also added the new nests on page 1 of this thread. I will name the one I recently found later and also the one (close to me) where my friend lives.
Edited to add: The nest I discovered last November, and saw 2 eaglets in recently, is called Seaview Nest because it is close to Seaview Lane.

Hello

waveLovely nest name Marg, not only depicting where someone could look at street names to help find it but also depicting closeness to the Strait, water view from nest. Left thumb up
Sher, you continue to amaze me with your dedication to our new nest and incredible action shots. Wooh You are a great addition to our Sechelt thread. I'm wondering if in the blustery spring we had the adults might have lost a clutch of eggs and layed a second time to account for lateness of fledging. Someone somewhere also mentioned latitude as being a marker of egg laying, hence Hornby Island being noticeably later than the nests on the lower mainland. That being said, our Bluster seemed to be among the early fledges. Chin
Well done to us all for finding new Sechelt nests and to Sher for stellar photos on our first new one.
ETA And kudos to Marg for our daily telescope updates on eagles visible or not in the Stalshen nest tree! ClappingThank You

Nests in Sechelt:

5. Seaview Nest (it is close to Seaview Lane) this is in West Sechelt - 2011 - 2 eaglets seen.

6. Shoreline? Sechelt? I think it should be called Shoreline to distinguish it from the other nests in Sechelt - 2011 - 2 eaglets seen

Hi Marg and Sandra

I just read an email from Sandra and she makes a very good argument for Shoreline rather than Sechelt
for the nest (6) she and I found almost simultaneously. I agree that Shoreline to identify its position works well.

The nest can be found just as you leave Sechelt and just before Norwest Road.
It is on the ocean side of the highway, just in front of the house that is just being built. It is their front yard.

As you can see from my most recent posts I was beginning to be concerned about Sunset as (s)he didn't seem to be leaving the nest.

However, when I passed by today it appeared that the nest was empty.
Unless Sunset was pancaked in the nest she was gone too.

I took some pictures of three eagles (one adult and 2 eaglets) in and around a tree about a kilometre down the road toward
Sechelt which I think were from this nest. If I don’t get a chance to post the pictures today I will try for tomorrow.

As you can see from the time of this post, I have become a bit of an eagle-holic.

This morning, as I was going to Gibsons, I stopped at the Shoreline nest to see if anyone was home.

Both Ocean and Sunset were at the nest but I didn't see any adult.

On my way home at about 3:10 I stopped again and it appeared that the nest was empty, unless Sunset was pancaked in the nest.

I decided to hang around and see what transpired. At about 3:45 an adult eagle landed in a tree right in front of me (not the one the nest is in) and began eating.

Feathers were flying everywhere but I couldn't quite see what type of bird the adult was eating.
