1 of theyoung tried it's wings tonight and crash landed in a tree near Rock Point Park. After landing it dropped through some branches about 15 feet on a lower branch and almost appear to get tangled in the branches. It is sitting there now with Ma or Pa in a larger tree nearby.
I am waiting for animal control as I am more concerend it could have damaged a wing the way it fell as it was upside down for about 10 mins
Any thoughts...... send me a personal message

I have spoken the Wildlife Ministry and they are inclined to leave it there until the morning.
Pat/Gary if you can check up on the young tomorrow as I will not be able to in the morning and if it is still there call the Emergency line of the Ministry and let them know at 1-877-952-7277

You have Gary all wound up now so we will likely be there at sun up!
Thanks also to Karen for the extra information.

Just to let everyone know, I am still having problems with my account with Hancock and it won't let me send PM messages as I tried to do this evening. While I can send messages through Facebook, that only counts if you are on that site as well, and some here aren't.
If you have suggestions on how this can be improved without this website behaving any better, please contact me through Facebook message.

Keeping my fingers crossed that all will work out for the eaglet. They do seem very resilient - and pretty clumsy at first, so hopefully all will be OK in the morning. So glad you were there, sawrat, and able to contact the appropriate authorities.
I didn't mention Port Moody in my little promo for Hancock Wildlife because I haven't heard what the plans for it might be - and the eagles haven't said if they're going to move back to their vacation home with the cam!
Matching Donation Opportunity Extended!
One of the things that I love about our forum and website is that I'm always learning new things. One of the things I learned today is that Mondays are very busy at Hancock House, so not everyone who tried to call in a donation using our 800 number was able to get through. Another thing I learned is that I need to be a bit more organized about coordinating schedules when working with people on both sides of the North American continent.
I've been in touch with the person who is offering to match up to $1000 in donations, and she is willing to extend the offer through tomorrow night (Tuesday, August 9th). That will provide an additional day for people to call in their donations to 1-800-938-1114 (toll free in Canada and the United States, but for donations only - the staff is not involved with the web site or cameras) - and will provide a full day to donate to our friends who follow the nests on facebook. While Tuesday should not be as busy at Hancock House, there are only two phone lines and a small staff, so please be patient when calling the 800 line.
You can also use any of our other Five Easy Ways to Donate to Hancock Wildlife Foundation - both CanadaHelps and PayPal accept credit cards, and you don't need to set up an account to donate.
It is worth mentioning that we will still need some additional major donations even if our two-day drive is a rousing success. It will cost $12,000 to buy and install the pan-tilt-zoom cam we need for Sidney, and possibly another $6000 just to get the rest of the cams cleaned and serviced for the upcoming season. If you know a person or a business who might sponsor a cam, please get in touch with Karen Bills (karen at hancockwildlife dot org).
All our eagle families - and their friends - thank you!

Thank you all for your support!

Good Morning Port Moodiers,:hello:
I'm usually at the White Rock nest and I can see I have been remiss and forgetful. The forgetful part happens a lot these days. I forgot to send you my posts yesterday.
Anyway I have sent out a challenge to HWF fans and if you check my posts at WR cam discussion you can catch up with the rest of us.
You post your particicpation on your own page here and I'll check in this evening.
