I was just in my garden when I heard some familiar calls. I look up and see Sitting eagleSitting eagle adult baldies flying overhead, calling their tunes. To the untrained ear, it would go unnoticed but I have heard those cries before and thought of Davids talk on the urban bald eagle. So I was wondering where this pair calls home. I know there are a few nests here in Richmond but still pleasantly surprised and delighted to see them flying together over my house to bootClapping Just thought I'd share my morning garden sighting. Somehow telling noneagle addicts is not fun. They don't get excited the way we do. So IThank You for yourSitting eagleWub
I hope you all enjoy your Saturday

OMG jas...That is so exciting!Clapping My goodness girl, you just have to find out where the nests are! It would be awesome if we had photos.
What you are seeing is no doubt eagles that are migrating.

A few people have mentioned flutterbys, so I thought I'd mention something that may increase your appreciation of them.

I wish I had my camera with me but I'll keep my eyes out over the next while and keep my camera in my pocket. I guess their migration time signals fall is in the air. I thought I forgot to log out and had my cams running on high volume at first. What often gives the eagles away is the way the gulls and crows harrass them but not today. It was just them eagle calls pure and magical. It took my breath away. I know there are some nests along the Fraser River but I couldn't tell you for sure where this pair are from. Maybe David Hancock would know. They were flying northwest if that means anythingDon't Know

Waahhh! I just did a long post with my bio, and it went into entropy and is gone!Bash computer

I was trying to do it fast because husband Jeff (he looks like this) Rant is grumpy this time of night and is likely to come down and shoo me back to bed. (He is under the illusion that I am his child, very amusing sometimes, , OK rarely.

I will try again tomorrow. The latest posts look lively and I can't wait to get a peek at them.

Waaah! I hate it when this happens!!CryCry Hanky

sigh sign good night alll, from Vivia

Good morning,

Hope today is a great last day of July for everone- where has the summer gone?? I had to smile at a memory when I read your post Jas. A couple of weeks ago, I was up in the north woods and we were enjoying a beautiful summer morning on the pontoon. It was about 9AM, so the lake was still pretty quiet, just dotted with a few fishing boats. This is only the 2nd year of my love affair with the magnificent eagle- I am sad it took me so long to see what I have missed for 54 years! But it was unmistakeable in the background of the quiet, and the best part was hearing my grandkids comment softly, "meemaw, that sounds like the eagles we watch". When we caught sight of that beautiful juevie, even the adults that (lovingly) poke fun at my extreme interest in watching them were silenced. My word, they're so much bigger and awesome in person! Not one of us could grab the camera fast enough as it moved along the shore into the trees, but that's ok. It is forever burned in my memory!

By the way Annie, I enjoy a good Long Island tea now and again, but came across the Boston at a restaurant, fell in love, and is now my favorite summer non-alcohol cooling agent. It's just iced tea and cranberry juice- so refreshing!

I have SO enjoyed reading about everyone and absolutely LOVED seeing the pics of your furkids and artwork!
