I went to Jericho yesterday - did not know what tree to look for unfortunately. Folk festival is in mid flight so to speak and parts of the park are difficult to access. Didn't see any eagles flying around the park to help me id tree. So sorry to say didn't find out how the eaglets are doing. I'll go again when the festival is done. It is possible all the activity has them lying low.

My first stop at Jericho since they built the new nest. It's at the back of the trees, so it makes it easier to see from up the hill. Should make for better photo ops once the egg(s) hatch. One adult on the nest, the other could not be found, but some walkers reported it might have been over in the Cedars. About 5 minutes after I arrived, the adult in the nest must have needed a stretch as it took off, flew out and around the block then went back to the nest. Just a quick stretch of the wings I guess. I'll post some pics tomorrow morning. Also there were several Northern Flickers on the power lines above where I was shooting. A couple of years ago, I didn't know what they were, now I see them everywhere. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Hope this helps you gd.

Thanks Marg and hello!! I think from another vid I watched it appears the nest was in a fir tree this year but I'm sure they would stick to that area which does make it easier for me to look for them. I'll check when the madness of the folk festival is over .

Hey folks,

was down at the nest site yesterday (its in the cottonwoods again this year, at Aberthau, by the way). On Sunday the bigger chick fell to the ground, at 6:00a.m. a couple of local residents were there trying to keep the skittish little thing from walking out on the street. A fellow from O.W.L. came, I'm told it took them about 20 minutes to corral the feisty guy (girl?), eventually they threw a towel over its head and got it into a box.
No injuries, its just a few days away from being able to fly. There should be a release out of O.W.L. quite soon I would think.

The other eaglet seems quite content up in the crook of its former nest branch. I got some video yesterday evening but haven't processed it yet. It looks big and healthy and in no way out of sorts. The parents are feeding it, for now, by trying to pass food back and forth with claws and beaks. A lot of it is ending up on the ground but the little guy is not underfed. There was wing stretching plus some flapping and hopping yesterday so I suspect this one will be ready to fly within a matter of days.

Last year when this happened, a little bit later in the season (last year the nest didn't so much blow down as was shattered by the two very insistent fledglings, in furiously flapping they actually broke the nest apart themselves) and the one that didn't fall to the ground was eventually coaxed across the soccer field to take its food from the fir tree. There is one above the Parks Board yard that the adults favour as a feeding platform, it was topped back a long time ago and has a nice flat area, more than enough room for two eagles to share at the same time.

I'll go down again, maybe tomorrow if the skies clear up, to see what else has developed.

Thanks Keta for letting us all know what is happening with the eagles here!! I'm so glad the eaglet was rescued. I was detained yesterday and didn't get a chance to look and didn't know where to look. Excellent news you are on it. Thank you again.

Hello friends of Jericho eagles: today I had to go to the sailing school so I had a wander to see if I could spot the eagles whose nest had fallen As I went towards the nest tree I saw an adult being dive bombed by a crow

Soon after the adult flew to another fir tree and started calling and a minute later I saw the juvie- in the tree that Keta described as having being topped -sorry this pic is fuzzy

Later I heard a lot of screeping and ran over to see adult in tree with the juvie -when I got there the adult started calling- for food delivery perhaps??

Quite awhile later I guess her request was granted because I saw something being plucked up there -feathers floating down
