Hi Liz!

Thanks for the picture of 'the kids' you posted to your blog! ( Go here to see: slcfalcons.blogspot.com/ )

It's nice to see them from another angle, and I've wondered how visible they'd be from below.
Are they getting much attention from passersby in the square?

Hi Cat, actually they are so far up most people walking by don't seem aware unless they notice all of us with our binoculars pointing at the nest, then they may look. Only a very few ask any questions, Kind of sad. As they start flying around temple square that may get some attention but again only if they notice us with the binoculars. If they are screaming for food, then some people will stop and look up.

3 p.m. Tuesday

After a couple of 'drop-and-run' food drops by the adults, there was a proper feeding. The eyases have been very intent on watching the goings-on outside the nest box, and they occasionally vocalize loudly when they see the parents nearby but, so far, none have fledged.

Believe it or not, the guy who heads up this project, Bob Walters, has not had the tools to get screen captures in the past nesting years. He and I were talking about trying to identifyif this breeding pair are the same from 2009, 2008 and even earlier. We are looking for photos of the adults sitting on the nest from each year so we can try to ID by markings. If any of you have such photos, could you email them to me? liz@utahrox.com

I didn't see the fledging this a.m., but all four were in the nest box last evening!

Liz's tweet this morning said it happened at about 6:18AM

For me, the webcams are being sketchy (sometimes it'll load, sometimes it'll freeze, sometimes it won't load at all) - I don't know if it's due to high traffic because of the fledging or what (that or it could be because the internet at work is having some *serious* issues today *grrrrr*). So I'm trusting this forum and Liz's tweets & blog to keep me updated Smile Here's hoping everything goes smoothly for the new flyers.

It's great to have the blog, photos and videos--thanks, all! Smile

Tonight, there were some tense moments as it seemed that one--or two--of the eyases in the nest box might fledge.

Repeatedly, a falcon (one of the parents?...possibly the fledgling...?) flew by the nest box just before 9:00 p.m., stirring up the feathers in the box and getting two of the young falcons to perch, bob, and flap as they looked eagerly out each time the fly-by occurred.
