Quote by: anna-hollandHi all, I don`t know if this is the right place for my question, but I wonder why I am at the old nest "Joined March 6e " and now at the new site "Joined July 7e ". ( for me there was no change ) what a strange date?.
and
And .....I miss the locations, where everybody come from.
greets anna
Anna the date you see under your avatar at this forum would be the date you registered to the Media Gallery.
As you can see on mine, the date is 2006 which is when I joined the Media Gallery.
The dates shown at the old forum is the date that you registered to the old forum. Unfortunately, we can't import the dates from one forum to another.
We miss the location under everyone's avatar as well

Another reason the names are blue is that they are links to that person's profile - I guess they don't think you need to go to your own profile. If you click on one, it will be black or gray for a while, as a recently visited link usually is.
Or at least that's how it's working for me.
That's one way to find other posts by the same person:

As you see, most of the information is about stories I've posted - it doesn't show my most recent forum posts unless you click the link. (As you may know, lovethebabies does the newsletter - but I helped her post it, so the posts are in my name.)
As for the dates, in technical terms, the old forum is totally unrelated to this one, which is part of the complete Hancock Wildlife website. Many people signed up for the old forum and also registered for the website, often so they could post pictures in the Media Gallery. Occasionally people did that on the same day - but often not. The date shown here is the date you registered for the HWF website - which now will have all the pieces (Forum, Media Gallery, Wildlife News, Calendar of Events, Biology Reference, etc) "under one roof" with only one registration required.
Hope that answers the questions!

Hi Judy! Thanks for getting back to us so quickly! Too bad the location doesn't show up any longer. We could put in in our signature line.
I don't recall ever signing up for a Media Gallery Acct. until recently, of course, yet my "joined date" is still the same

That does happen occasionally if you take a while to type a PM. This will usually work:
Click your browser's Back button, and you should go back to where you were typing the message.
Copy the message to your clipboard, just in case (on a PC, highlight everything and use CTRL-C - I forget the "copy" command for Macs)
Try "submit" again - it will often work the second time.
There's a technical reason for this which I'm forgetting at the moment - think it's time to fold laundry for a few minutes and let my brain rest!
Slygirl - many people who originally came to the forum by searching for Hancock Wildlife first arrived at the website home page and registered there - then needed to register again before they could post on the forum. I know a number of people never actually realized they'd registered for two separate websites - they just thought the registration didn't work so did it again. Fortunately, from now on, people will only need to register once to see everything.

Slygirl, Anna and Judy - Thanks for your quick response. I kind of thought that might be the answer, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Lots to learn, but for the most part I like it.
I too miss the location with our avatars. Perhaps down the road???
