All but two or three of the previous images were taken from across the gorge.
A half mile walk upstream, over a foot bridge, and back downstream on another trail, gets one to the base of the nest tree.
Very close, but hard to see anything from right under the nest.
This part of the park is a dog off-leash area. The trail comes to within about 10 feet of the nest tree.
I met a fellow walking his dog. We got to chatting and he told me this story.....
About a week previous, he had been sitting on a log, having a smoke, while his dog rooted around.
Out of nowhere, something hit him. He thought that someone had thrown a rock at him, but there was no one there ??
He then figured out that it was a stick that had fallen out of the sky. He was about a hundred feet from the nest tree.
When I pointed out the nest, and offered a probable explanation of an Osprey dropping the branch, he was relieved to know what had happened. We went over to base of the tree where there were many many sticks on the ground that had fallen out of the nest.

There were four Ospreys in the area. Our pair and two others. The nesting pair were screaming and being quite clear about their territory.
It was difficult to keep track of who was who, but I believe this is one of the intruders.

Osprey weren't the only flying things in the sky.
