Kay, Great photos of the Cooper's Hawk. Beautiful colors on the birds, especially the Wood Duck. I hope they are able to fix the problems when it comes to viewing and posting photos. It took three times to see your photos as I was continually knocked off your thread. Posting has become a nightmare. I know the only solution is more donations to update the web site.

First you must follow before you lead.

Hi Kay * Thanks for sharing all your great photos from Vancouver Island !!
I Love the Greater Yellowlegs ... cool birds.
The Cooper's Hawk photos are terrific. Fantastic orange eyes.
I also notice that it is a banded bird.

Thanks Ed & Doug.

Yes, a lot of members have had trouble with the site and forum lately; I believe Richard said a new server is needed and every piece of equipment is so expensive. HWF needs donations!!

Doug, there is a fellow here who has been banding Cooper's hawks for many years. He and his wife go out looking and listening for them and last year my sister-in-law had a nest in a tree on her property. Andy asked her if he could come and band them, so Andy, his wife, a professional tree climber and another volunteer who sketches the birds and chicks, all met at my s-i-l house and banded 5 chicks. I have lots of photos in my album in the Media Gallery. Here is the link to an interesting article about Andy Stewart: A Passion For Hawks

Brian and I are off to Vancouver tomorrow to board Holland America's ms Zaandam, cruising to the Hawaiian Islands and back. We'll be home May 12th and I hope to get some good pix with my new lens.
