There was an eagle atop the BHP totem pole at 11: 30 this morning (Tuesday Mar 1). It was gone at 12:30.
Still no sign of a mate, unfortunately.

I have been away for a week and missed a lot of excitement at other nests.

This morning one eagle was sitting atop the BHP totem from about 9 to 10 AM. Still no sign of a mate.

calypso, thanks for reporting your eagle sightings. The last time I was at the park I saw an eagle soaring high up in the thermals but have not seen the eagles in the park the past few times I have been thereSad

I haven't seen an eagle at BHP for about 3 weeks. It is probably safe to say that the one eagle who was hanging out, hoping for a mate, has gone elsewhere now that the mating season is over.

Maybe next year.

calypso, thanks for posting your observations. I haven't been to the park for weeks and haven't seen any eagles for quite awhile. The last time I saw 2 of them together was the day one caught a seagull and dropped it on my car, minus it's headWooh I believe that was last Nov.

I'll email my contacts at the park to ask if the eagles have been seen lately.

I went to Beacon Hill Park yesterday afternoon and didn't see any eagles at first, but as I was walking back from Henry Heron's tree an eagle flew overhead and landed in the nest they built last season. The nest is in a tall tree with a sparse top and is across from the kids' playground. I managed to get a few pix before the sun was right behind the nest. Next time I visit I'll go in the morning. This is a pic of the nest and top part of the tree. There is an eagle in the nest and you can see a seagull hanging on the right side of the nest. Click bigger.

Here is a close up pic of the nest; the eagle's tail feathers are visible in the middle of the nest. Click bigger.

In this pic you can see the eagle in the nest on the left side between the branches; it appears to be feeding a chickLeft thumb up Click bigger.
