Dropped by Vanier around 4pm I think. Stayed about 20 minutes. Nothing exciting to report. One adult low in the nest. The other nowhere to be seen. Not much movement. I'll add a snapshot or two tomorrow.

Dropped by Vanier after Strathcona. I would say that this nest has probably hatched already, but the young are too small to see. So we should see them next week. The leaves aren't in the way yet, so we should get some good pics next week if the weather holds. One adult spent most of the time standing in the nest, but off to one side. The other was very close by either in the nest tree, or over near the bridge behind the bmx track. Met a woman named Kathy, who also was taking photos. She showed me her book, and they were very impressive. I asked her to post a few, and I really hope she does. OK, off to Jericho

Ian and freinds of thes eagle's...
I was down at the Nest at 11:20 for my first pic. With one in the nest ... a minute didn't go by when(Ian) Kathy was standing beside me was nice to see her again I hade meet her the last time I was at this nest and yes she has taken some amzing pic;s of this pair. I to asked her to please post(telons crossed) she is a very dedicated Photographer and does get some amazing pic's.One of which she said was taken on Tue. of what appers to be an Eaglet in the parents telons ,she said that what happened after that wasen't very pleasent. I hope she wiil post regardles of the situation. of the pic.So some of are more educated can verify!
There was plenty of action at the nest but no brooding ,so if there is something happening in the bowl we cant see it yet from the parking lot. Both of the parents where hanging around in the nesting tree but no one on the nest.At one point one flew out of the tree and went over towards the planiterium. and the returned into the nest with what I thought was a crow until I blew up the Pic, (looks like the whole nest?)

That was at 11:49 again focused on the nest but saw nothing So my ? is will an Adult eat there own dead young??

Vanier Park eagles trip April 23 2011
ma Vanier brooding haven't seen any chicks in the nest yet but I assume there are one or two eggs and I assume this because from the past two years the Vaniers have produced 2 eaglets each season of 2009 and 2010
Eagles eat the eggs and the young of Heron's, Gooses and other birds but I've never heard of them eating their own young they just toss the dead eaglet and or the dead egg off of the nest.
Your eagle picture has the female with some clumps of grasses that they put on the lining of their nest for the baby's thats what makes me assume there are eggs or chicks.
