Xi Lan spent some time at the Keeper's window, then the door opened and out he went. He's now in Yang's yard with Lun.

Queenie, thanks for the video of Xi Lan's first partial day alone. I think Lun likes her "ME-time". Xi Lan seems do just just fine on his own. He's such a big boy!

Jwinx: Mei Lan was weaned gradually as well. They will adjust the hours if Lun or Xi get too upset but so far the schedule seems the same. From what I saw when Bai and Zhen were separated, it was harder on them at the end when they were apart overnight. The reunions were very tender and both seemed happy to see each other. After the final day together both mother and cub were upset at first but they give them lots of love and attention and eventually both were just fine.

I said earlier Lan might do better at the separation/weaning than Lani did, as he doesn't seem as sensitive, but he's certainly cwazy 'bout Mom ~so I hope he continues to do well, & later too {overnight etc.}, like carly said about ZZ & Bai, I remember all that also, but it has to be, but it also doesn't mean it is particularly always that pleasant

Hi all: I was checking to see if there was any news about Lani. Lani was weaned just like Xi is being weaned - a little bit at a time. As Queenie said, Lani was very sensitive and the further they got into the weaning, the sadder she seemed. She would just stand in one place and sniff. She didn't play for months.
I hope Xi does better than Lani did. Tai was also really sad when he was weaned too. I know that I am giving a human emotion to the bears but the only other word that comes to mind is depressed. It is just a hard time.
