I was sure hoping that they were not going to get this storm. I could see it moving their way when I watched the weather station models. Hope he can find some food for her and for the eaglets. I think I remember a storm at FSV where the eaglets did not have food for most on the day because of the snow. I guess being kept warm is the most important. Thanks Cal, for the scapes.

ETA See that they got a feeding while I was posting. That mom is so careful.....I'm impressed.

1:00 pm
Just saw a feeding. Both chicks looked active and alert. The older one was in front, and I think she got most if not all of the food. The little one was sort of jumping up and down and leaning over her shoulder, but I'm not sure that anything made it past the grabby beak of the big one.

It is fairly normal for this to happen from time to time, especially when Mom needs to do a quick feeding and get the chicks under cover again - and isn't a problem unless it happens for several feedings in a row. The younger one seems plenty active, so odds are good he'll position himself better for the next feeding.

I saw another feeding a few minutes ago, and again the older one got most of the food. It looked as if Mom might have offered a bite to the younger one at the end, but I'm not sure. He's still doing OK - but didn't seem to be pushing forward as much as he was at the last feeding, so I am a bit concerned.

Mom off for a brief stretch.
Both chicks pop up.
Both looking good - big is looking quite a bit bigger, but little is stretching his wings and looking around.

Mom is still gone, and the cam has that lovely spinning symbol. WA cam is still working, but I don't watch it enough to tell if Mom is back on the nest - it looks the same to me as it did when the CU cam was working.

3:31 pm
Cam is back, but Mom is not. It's not snowing right now, and the nest bowl looks deep and sheltered - but 10 minutes seems a long time to leave chicks this young on a cold day.

3:34 pm
Adult is back, calls, and leaves again. I'd almost guess that was Mom, and Dad just arrived and is beginning to brood - though I'm not sure who was there briefly. Happy to see someone brooding. It's now 3:35 pm.

I just checked the chat at Sooner Lake, and the little one did get fed. I will sleep more easily tonight. Smile

RobinInPhoenix reported at 5:07 pm central time: "It looks like momma is feeding both chicks - more to the big one, but Little Bit is getting some too! So adorable..." and a minute later, GreenCat reported "Little V is getting more aggressive and stretching out for food - mom is feeding her every third or so bit - go for it!:

The little one doesn't need much at this point - but he does need some. And it sounds as if he got what he needs. Smile

Dad offered Mom a bite of food; she declined.

A few minutes later, Dad forcefully removes mom from the bowl; she then goes to eat. Wisdom Dad!
