mary - I hope you get the day to do whatever you want.
I agree - of course cats have expressions - all the ones I have known have expressions! (don't they???) LOL
Have a nice weekend all - catch up with you on Tuesday.

thanks for bringing these facts to light again, PE!!! over a year ago, I tried to start a panda bear discussion thread for this purpose, and as you might imagine, it was not very popular nor used. I think what we CAN do is speak up and speak out and promote and support planting more bamboo forests for habitat for pandas. so that the ones still left in the wild, will have safe places to make more pandas without human interference!!!
what a concept, huh??
;-)
was interesting reading one of the updates where they spoke of the newly arrived bear having adjustment problems!! I would think so..... she was trained in English and now the new caregivers speak a different language and none of them speak Panda!!!
alas.....

I've been busy the last couple of days following the sad, sad saga of Tai Shan and Mei Lan having to go to China...forever. Poor Mei Lan will be put into the Chinese panda "puppy mill" to breed and breed as often as possible for the rest of her life!! They even take the little ones from their Moms and they are raised by humans in nurseries like babies. There is no way they will ever be able to be released back into the wild as they don't know how to be pandas and are imprinted on humans. SOOOO what is the purpose??!!!!
Sorry for the panda rant guys! [/p]

if you approach the feeder slowly and don't excite the bees, its pretty easy to change them out....they just move to the nw feeder!! i've not ever been stung doing this.

I peeked into the hummingbird feeder and caught a person changing the water. Boy, you wouldn't catch me doing that with all those bees buzzing around. And they did it with their bare hands. (EEK)

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE
Elaine - the picture of the Cardnal is lovely - they are such a beautiful bird. Neither cardinals or bluejays are here so I love to see them.
Bird Nests. The Mockingbird will pick up anything to make its' nest. You will see by this update that she has laid another egg since WEd. The white stuff is from the cotton trees growing in the field next door. EAsy for them to access especially as it falls in the wind. There is a bunch of string in the nest, and stuff that looks like it is from someone's lint trap from the dryer. the long blue and white strips are the edging they pull off the perforated computer generated receipts. There is a white coily looking thing in the back - that is one of those key ring holders that expand to go over ones wrist? Intersting that they could carry it up there. Also some white string and below the bottom of the nest on the left is tinfoil. I watched them one day when it took them 1/2 hour get a piece of paper about 4inches x 6 inches up through the branches into the nest. I laughed so hard at times I thought it would frighten them but they are used to me being out there. I can go within about one foot of the nest now and Ma just looks at me and closes her eyes.
Cindy - Your furries never cease to amaze me. The expressions on their faces and in their eyes . I love that cat!! The dog is gorgeous too, but as I have been allergic to dogs, I guess I am a cat person. I miss my cats so much. Doctor said 3 months and that is up on 17 March, so lets see how I am by then. i can't go on living without a furry - not the same. Come home at night and nothing live in the house??? Not pleasant. So for now I will enjoy BobCat, O.K.? I would have make the cat an indoor cat as the birds outside are precious also and the neighbours two tied up dogs would not be friendly, and if they were ever loose???? Oh my don't want to think about that.

This is a parrot I caught yesterday robbing us of our June plums. They are really little thieves, but beautiful. Caught him red handed from my back door.

Vicki - since 30 April 2009
God Gives every bird it's food, but He does not throw it into its nest.

what a fabulous nest picture, vicki....thanks so much for posting with the construction details!!!
and YES, if you keep cat indoors only, it will not kill birds, it will not be run over, nor poisoned by someone that doesn't appreciate neighbor's cat in their bird yard!!!
its the law where I live that cats and dogs must be fenced or on leash!

Thanks for mentioning that about indoor cats, jwnix!! My 4 spoiled princess kitties all live totally indoors and they are very happy to do so. They never even try to get out the door, never get sick, or have fleas, and live long lives.
Vicki...I just read that the author Dick Francis lived in the Caymans. He passed away today at 89. Mr. PE and I have read every single one of his books and we will miss having new ones to read!!
