It decided it needed to move further along and landed in this tree.

No eagles in the next spot I visited, but I did find my 4th Red-tailed Hawk & a garter snake. The snake was too close for me to focus on. I hadn't seen one for years so it was a nice surprise.

No eagles at the Ballam or Kitchen Rd. nests, but Mr. D's Wood Ducks were around.

I'd visited 7 nests and none of the residents were home so I decided to call it a day. As I was slowly driving along looking for Herons I caught a glimpse of something through the trees. I backed up and saw two adults perched in the distance. They were both calling out.

I drove down another road to see if I could get closer.

There was one more place I could try so headed over there. I couldn't get a clear shot from here but couldn't see a way to get closer.

As I was taking pics, the owner of one of the houses asked if I'd like to get a closer shot of two eagles. He took me into his back yard which gave me an unobstructed view of the pair. I figured these were the Kitchen Rd. nest pair as their nest isn't far from here along the same slough. Mr. H agreed and said he has been watching them since around 2004. He also has a man-made Wood Duck nest in one of his trees overlooking the slough and gave me a lot of interesting information about his and several more in the area. I will definitely have to go back and have another chat with him.

They way the day had been going I thought I wasn't going to get any pics of eagles, but everything turned out well in the end. Smile

Awesome pictures Scott. I come often to look, but I don't have a lot of time to post.

Thanks for sharing your eagle searches with us. Wub

Scott, Great sunny afternoon outing my friend. Great that you saw the wood ducks and got some nice pics of them, also that Mr H has a Wood Duck nest. That would be great to watch next breeding season. It was also very nice of him to take you around back of his home for you could get closer photos of the eagle pair. They are a gorgeous twosome! Great series of the Red-tail Hawk, they are beautiful birds. Beautiful Great Blue Heron shots also. Looks like a great day in the GREAT OUTDOORS.Smile

Scott, what a nice outing you had. Nice pics of the hawk in flight and all those starlings. Love the wood ducks. So pretty. Nice pics of the heron too. That was so nice of the owner to show you another spot to get a pic of the eagles. Awesome pics! Just beautiful! Glad you stayed out a little longer so you could get those pics! Thank you for that! Thanks for sharing with us, Scott. Sounds like you have wonderful people around there. So nice.

Hi Scott, what a great outing you had! You must really have a lot of fun out there, I know I would. And just when you think there isn't an eagle to be found. Viola! And how nice of the fellow to let you come in his yard to take some more pics!! They are great!

wooohooo more hawks BF!! That first one looks like a Sharpie. I love all the hawks and great eagle shots too. That's neat that you now have a new buddy you can gather info and better shots from. I love those wood ducks I can't believe I don't see more but I've only seen one pair.

Too bad you couldn't get the snake but great job on what you did get! Wub

I would rather spend my life close to the birds than wishing I had wings
