Hi, Bev

Your welcome for the picture. No, I wish I knew the name of the rehab too. I hope they will put up some more info on Phoebe's cam sight (that's where I pulled the picture from). The hummingbirds are such little things, I do wonder how they would teach her?

Sassy is under the care of Jim and Helen Bishop. They have trained other rehabbers, including the rehabbers that previously took in Jewel. Joe met them part way to give them Sassy. He said: "They had about a half dozen chicks she was picking up."

As the only state and federally licensed people in Orange County, California to actively take in hummingbirds, the BIshops receive about 250 injured birds a year from local veterinarians and animal shelters. They talk about their care of hummingsbirds here:

Today, Joe wrote in the comments section of the cam page: "Pungh0li0: Sassy was taken to rehab Feb. 18. Phoebe left for longer periods and appeared to be giving up soon. Sassy was panting and seemed to have trouble with her tongue. I will update as soon as I hear anything."

The Bishops are retired. Sassy is with their colleague Jean.
They don't really want info published because Mrs. Bishop is 88 and they don't want her getting a bunch of calls.
I've asked about donations, but they are not a non-profit so it isn't legal to take donations.
They are licensed rehabbers with decades of experience though.

Thanks, Joe

Sad news that I've read on Phoebe's cam site. It states that Sassy passed away before sunrise Saturday, Feb. 20th. Sad
