Hi Sandra: I’ve been by that location hundreds of times over the years so I was very surprised to see the owl. Don’t you wonder how many times the owls see us and we don’t see them?

Backyard view, 4-19-12. Lots of Great Blue Herons in the immediate area, but this is the first time one has landed so close to the backyard. Photos taken from patio area in backyard looking east. Click to enlarge.

We have seen these little birds eating our berries!! I found out that they are a migrant bird called Townsend's Solitaires and was told we are very lucky to see them (we saw about 6) and that lots of birders would be thrilled to see them.

Also looking from our back yard we saw a huge raft of Surf Skoters getting ready to head north. CLICK 2X

I have a hummingbird nest in my back yard! Here is a well camouflaged photo of the female nesting and a short 13 second video too.

wave How wonderful elle! Clapping I can't imagine how you discovered her camouflaged in there. Can you tell if it is an Anna's or Rufous? Hoping for a successful nesting season to them! fingers crossed

Thanks stim.

She is an Anna's hummingbird. I love the Rufous , too, but have only been lucky enough to see one in my back yard a couple of times. I can't wait to hopefully see some babies aka " humlets" aptly named by my friend Annie. SmileThank You

Elle: Enjoyed the hummingbird photos, and wow Marg that’s a lot of Surf Scoters that you captured.
