From April 24 . Everybody hates the poor brownheaded cowbird because he's such a lazy bird & doesn't hatch & raise his own eggs. But I have always found them beautiful to look at & listen to. To me the brown on his head almost resembles fur

Pat: The raccoon photo brought a smile. By chance, was the raccoon looking at Queen Diva Callie?

Osprey visit. Eagles often are seen atop this snag. Two or three times a year an osprey drops by. Photo taken from backyard on 5-1-11.

I so love the look on his face, as if he's thinking, what's that strange looking being with that strange contraption

I took these yesterday

The first bird I thought was a female scarlet tanager since there was a male in the area but the beak looks all wrong, Then I really thought maybe a says phoebe but they would be accidental in Ontario or flycatcher but beaks all wrong there too. been thru all my birding books & all the bird sites I have in bookmarks, HELP

I was told this was a female wilsons warbler but it doesn't have yellow above the beak.. so still out on this one

P.S> I was given the name Female redstart & after checking. Yip, that's what she isVery Happy

Now this one I was convinced is a warbler, I thought juvie yellow, check all sites for that but their tails weren't yellow, yellow rumped , same thing,. Needed someone with a yellow tail. Had to lighten up a bit/ both pics were cropped since they were at a good distance way

This WASN"T a warbler, too tall & thin. By going back & forth in my book & sites I concluded a juvie baltimore oriole. Jury's out on the sex though. Lots of males in Area. Found a site that really helped. The things you find if you ask the right way in google

Raccoon, 6-5-11. An abandoned shed near the Birch Bay eagle nest has become a temporary home for a raccoon. Click to enlarge.
