Today I noticed a new cam. This cam is in Westminster, Colorado. The nest is on the Northwest edge of the Park. It has been here since 1993. Once the eagles started to construct their nest, the area was closed off so that the nesting pair of eagles would not be disturbed. They have produced 2 eaglets each year since 1994. However, in 2016 they raised three eaglets. After the 2016 nesting season, the adults built a new nest in the next tree to the northeast of the original nest. Eggs are usually laid in the first two weeks of February. Eaglets hatch in March and fledge by mid June. The juveniles usually leave the area by October or November.

There is a facebook page named Standley Lake Eagle Cam

The camera system was installed in the Fall of 2016. "The Standley Lake Eagle cam was installed in the Fall of 2016 by a team of City of Westminster Open Space staff, the Company View Into the Blue, and United Power, who donated all their time and man power to install it. The pole was placed between the new nest and the old nest." This is a solar powered camera system. There is no night view.

This is a map of the Standley Lake area. The eagles are in the northwest corner of the open space in a grove of cottonwood trees. There is a blind that can be accessed from the Park entrance and Visitors Center. It can also be accessed from a new parking lot and trail on 100th Avenue. It is advised that you watch carefully since there are rattlesnakes in the area.

Thanks for setting up a thread for these eagles, Donna - it will be interesting to see what they do - and wonderful that it sounds as if the camera was placed where it could see at least part of both possible nest locations.

I'm sometimes challenged by maps, but it looks quite close to Fort St Vrain (less than an hour's drive, not within a couple of miles), though I've no idea if the terrain is very different - and that does make me wonder if they will have eggs at about the same time. And with a bit of luck, we should learn that in the next month or two!
