Again, I missed his arrival but A69 is back on the nest. About 20 minutes ago there was a critter climbing up to the nest but made a hasty departure when A68 spotted it. It looked like a ferret or opposum? Do they have them on the islands?

Hi Darlene! Folks on the CHIL forum think it was an island fox. They are about the size of a large housecat, and they can climb trees. They also have a stripe on their tail, similar to the one the "guest" had. They generally coexist with bald eagles, though I suppose the young of either species might be at risk from the other.

Here's EagleDuo's video of the visit from the CHIL forum - thanks, Jann! Smile

Darlene wave Grin Great Catch

Thanks Judy Grin for the link.

Jann Grin thank you for the great video Clapping Left thumb up Clapping

Wow a four legged creature who would have guessed!! This tree looks amazingly high it is a wonder it ventured that high up. Good thing Mom or Dad were not there or it would have been catdelicious Rolling on floor laughing! Will definitely do a collage!!

10 am
Mom I think delivered some breakfast; Goldie was into the nest
first and quickly claimed the meal and full mantle seen not to
mention screeping and echuming too.

Sidney flew up into the nest next but Goldie had the meal.
Sidney was mantling, and screeping and cheeping too
and was about to chase Mom off when Mom left.

I just rewatched Jann's great video Left thumb up and I am sure this 4 legged visitor is a member of the cat family~~had a dark face and long dark tail~~so if the island fox/cat is a member of the cat family I am betting that is what it was ~~sure moved like a cat when Goldie seen it Rolling on floor laughing

Thanks Judy for the link to Jann's video. Now that I see it again, it clearly looks like a fox but I wasn't quite sure what it was the first time around. It was cute the way they startled each other. Smile
